LAS VEGAS, May 21, 2013 – The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) announced that six industry executives have been elected to the ICSC Board of Trustees.
The new appointments became official during RECon, ICSC’s annual convention in Las Vegas.
The newly elected board members are: William B. Horner, senior vice president and chief real estate officer of Fitness International, LLC, Irvine, Calif.; Jim Lampassi, vice president of real estate and construction for PETCO Animal Supplies Stores, Inc., San Diego, Calif.; Mark L. Myers, executive vice president at Wells Fargo & Company, San Francisco, Calif.; Brian M. Smith, president and chief operating officer for Regency Centers, Jacksonville, Fla.; Arturo Sneider, CEO of Primestor Development, Inc., Los Angeles, Calif.; and Carlos Medeiros, chief executive officer, BRMalls, Brazil.
“Behind every strong association is a strong board of trustees, and these six individuals will ensure that ICSC continues to be the premier global retail real estate trade association in the world,” stated Michael P. Kercheval, ICSC’s president and chief executive officer.
“These new trustees have a vast and diverse background in the retail real estate industry and I, along with the current board members, look forward to working with them during their term,” Kercheval added.
The board of trustees’ primary responsibility is to assist ICSC in the implementation of its mission statement, which is to provide educational programs and publications in all aspects of shopping center development, finance, management, marketing, and other specialized areas of professional interest; conduct meetings and other programs designed to promote the exchange
of ideas among members; collect and disseminate information pertaining to the shopping center industry; develop and maintain professional certification programs to encourage high standards for shopping center professionals; and to advocate the interests of the shopping center industry to federal and state/provincial governments.
There are 52 voting board of trustee members, all with three-year terms. Trustees are not eligible to serve more than six consecutive years. Founded in 1957, ICSC is the premier global trade association of the shopping center industry with more than 60,000 members in over 90 countries.
