Jaros, Baum & Bolles (JB&B)has been recognized for its work on the Weill Cornell Medical College Belfer Research Building.
The company won awards in three categories from the Architectural Engineering Institute’s Professional Project Awards, including the prestigious Best Overall Project for Greater Than $100 Million.
The awards were distributed at the AEI Banquet and Awards Ceremony held at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee, WI.
The Belfer Research Building provides Weill Cornell Medical College with a cutting-edge medical research facility in close proximity to the institution’s existing clinical, research and academic buildings, reinforcing the educational institution’s prominence as an urban academic biomedical center and world leader in its field.
The building features numerous architectural, technological and sustainability advances, including specialized ventilation and exhaust systems for the labs, an energy-efficient double curtain wall, and fully integrated building management and lighting control systems among other innovations.
JB&B received the Award of Excellence for Lighting, Electrical and Lighting Systems Design, the Award of Merit for Architectural Engineering Integration, and Best Overall Project for Greater Than $100 Million for its outstanding work on the Weill Cornell Medical College Belfer Research Building. The AEI Professional Project Award (PPA) program is conducted annually and is designed to publicly acknowledge outstanding achievement in design and construction. The program seeks to educate students and professionals through examples that illustrate the application of academic studies to practice, with a focus on the art and science of an integrated approach to architectural engineering.
