The International Facility Managers Association (IFMA) New York City Chapter offers its members opportunities to advance their professional development throughout their careers with support in certification, networking, education and research.
The New York City Chapter strives to be the premier organization and resource for Facility Managers and workplace professionals in the New York Metropolitan Area.
Focused on sustainability initiatives and innovative programs, IFMA NYC will host a webinar series as well as partner with other area associations such as CoreNet Global NYC and Urban Green Council to remain in the forefront of the industry for ideas and best practices.
IFMA also hosts its annual awards for excellence for its members and the real estate community, and has introduced a new award category for 2014: workplace innovation.
The award recognizes end-user companies who have implemented an innovative workplace concept that has had a major impact on the firm and employees, and has fostered transformational change.
Locally, IFMA NYC is stepping up its community initiatives in 2014 with a happy hour fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, raising $5,000 for the organization.
The organization is also partnering with Dress for Success for a clothing drive; St. Francis Food Pantries to aid in facility updates and continually seeks new organizations to partner with.
Working closely with the IFMA Foundation, IFMA NYC is reaching out to young adults before they enter college to raise awareness to the facilities management profession. The number of facility management professionals graduating from college does not even meet half of the number of facility managers set to retire in ten years and the New York City Chapter is dedicated to closing this gap by offering scholarships, training opportunities and mentorship programs.
IFMA NYC will host a fundraiser and wine tasting event to benefit the IFMA Foundation, and an annual golf outing later in October.
IFMA will also host exclusive facilities tours for current and potential facility manager members, as well as conduct a “mobility in the workplace” program and roll out the sustainability webinar series.
