Breaking Ground held their Celebrating Home & Community Gala at Cipriani 25 Broadway. The honorees were David L. Picket, president of Gotham Organization, Inc., and Paul J. Massey, Jr., president of New York Investment Sales, Cushman & Wakefield. The organization raised $1.7 million, a record for the non-profit, for their housing and homeless outreach services.
Breaking Ground is New York’s largest supportive housing provider. They own or operate 20 permanent and transitional residences, primarily in New York City, and lead homeless street outreach in all of Brooklyn, all of Queens, and a portion of Manhattan. Breaking Ground currently has 1,000 new units of affordable and supportive housing in their development pipeline. Since 1990, Breaking Ground has helped more than 12,000 people escape and avoid homelessness.
