The New York Real Estate Chamber, Inc. (NYREC) hosted the first Emerging Leaders and Markets (ELM) Summit at the Columbia University’s Faculty House in New York City.
The Emerging Leaders and Markets Summit began with a keynote address by R. Don Peebles, Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Peebles Corporation.
The NYREC then presented special recognition awards to Darryl C. Towns, Commissioner and CEO of New York State Homes and Community Renewal; Paul T. Williams Jr., President and CEO of the Dormitory Authority for the State of New York; Robert Rodriquez, New York State Assemblyman; and Matthew Wambua, former Commissioner of the New York City Department of Housing, Preservation and Department.
The ELM Summit featured a series of topical panels by some of real estate’s most successful deal makers, policy makers and leaders of minority-owned firms. The panels addressed current opportunities and innovations in the community development industry, ideas for sustainable development in urban communities and much more. The NYREC welcomed over 150 commercial and housing real estate professionals, policy makers and community leaders to the event.
