openhousenewyork (OHNY) and Interior Design magazine invite New Yorkers to take a peek inside some of the city’s slickest homes this weekend.
The two have collaborated to present a new series for the 10th Annual OHNY Weekend called Interior Design’s Designers’ Open House, which opens homes designed by contemporary architects and interior designers.
“At Interior Design, we live and breathe design — it’s in our DNA,” says Cindy Allen, the magazine’s editor-in-chief.

“Each month our readers journey through remarkable projects by simply opening the page. Partnering with OHNY and inviting superstars of design to really open the doors of their own homes was a natural extension. Who doesn’t want to be on the inside — it’s voyeurism at its best.”
Located predominantly in Manhattan, the 15 homes demonstrate innovative design solutions, stylish retro-fittings, and sustainable design features.
They range from polished mid-century modern to a newly constructed Harlem row house; from a West Village pied-à-terre with Hudson River views, to a converted 19th century dental factory that now serves as a live/work space complete with a moat, bridge, and water wall. Many of these homes will feature “opendialogues,” which is an opportunity for visitors to discuss the design process directly with the architects and interior designers involved.
All of the properties in the collection will be included in Interior Design’s September issue. Among the designers taking part are Aizaki Allie (Creme), Williamsburg; Joan Blumenfeld (Perkins + Will) and Robert Krone (Robert Krone Architect), Harlem; Laura Bohn (Laura Bohn Design Associates), West Village; Scott Bromley (Bromley Caldari Architects), Garment District; Thomas Jayne (Thomas Jayne Studio), SoHo; Shamir Shah (Shamir Shah Design) and Ali Tayar (Ali Tayar/Parallel Design), Midtown.
