Dance company now at the Zipper Building

Joffrey Ballet Center will soon be anchoring the Zipper Building, with its signing of a 15,500 s/f 10-year lease for the entire 4th floor at 47-16 Austell Place in Long Island City, NY.

Joffrey’s looks to expand its high-profile dance school and ballet studio into Queens, bringing its national accreditation and multiple styles of balletic training to the Borough.

The building was purchased by the Vanbarton Group earlier this year and is undergoing a major capital improvement program including restored façade, new lobby, new elevators and ground floor retail.

Joffrey Ballet Center was represented by Nancy Grod and Carol Gomez of Norman Bobrow & Co. Vanbarton was represented by Ethan Silverstein and Corey Horowitz of Cushman & Wakefield together with Greg Smith, Ellen Israel, Kristen Morgan & Lauren Calandriello of JRT Realty, Inc.

This is Vanbarton Group’s second LIC repositioning within the last year, recently bringing WeWork to its first location in Queens at Office’s at The Square, which is now 100 percent leased.

The building was formerly the Waldes Zipper Factory.
