Cushman & Wakefield announced today it has been retained in partnership with The Hudson Companies and Related to secure retail tenants for seven Roosevelt Island retail spaces. The spaces are located at 503, 507, 521, 544, 548, 563, and 615 Main Street and total approximately 16,000 s/f.
Roosevelt Island is home to 16,000 residents today. There is approximately 105,000 s/f of retail divided into 33 spaces along Main Street that Hudson and Related own and operate. Roosevelt Island features new street-scape lighting, signage, and custom benches, outdoor parks and fields as well as indoor swimming, tennis, basketball, squash, and steam rooms, and breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline. It is accessible by the F train, tram from Second Avenue and East 60th Street, city bus, or car. Neighboring retailers include Starbucks, Duane Reade, Wholesome Factory Organic Market, Union Medical Urgent Care, Main Street Sweets, Subway, Gristedes, River Walk Café and a branch of the New York Public Library.
The Cornell Tech Campus Development, a $2 billion project over a 12-acre campus broke ground on Roosevelt Island in spring 2015. It will provide housing for 2,000 students and 280 faculty members and provide 20,000 construction jobs and 8,000 permanent jobs. In addition, Four Freedoms Park, featuring a monument to FDR, is a growing destination for locals and tourists.
