The City That Never Sleeps now has its own country club where it can at least chill out for a while.
Golf & Body NYC will open a 25,000 s/f outpost at Atlantic Realty Development Corp’s new apartment building at 883-885 Sixth Avenue.
“CEO and owner Tom Schiff had a vision to develop an urban country club in the city and made it happen,” said Newmark Grubb Knight Frank director Daniel Hassett, who was set to the task of finding the first site for a private golf club in Manhattan.
Hassett recounted how Schiff had a vision to creat a unique venue for passionate golfers. “He imagined a space that would bring a superior golf club experience in the midst of an urban environment, with multiple golf simulators and golf instruction by PGA instructorss,” said the broker.
The vision has come true in the center of Midtown at the corner of 32nd and Sixth Avenue, the edge of a rapidly redeveloping Chelsea neighborhood.
“The ceiling heights are amazing,” said Hassett. “We have a mezzanine that looks over the ‘greens’ and simulators, 20 ft. ceilings, and wrap-around windows that stream in light and views of Herald Square. The space has tremendous character.”
Golf & Body NYC spared no expense building the 25,000 s/f interior. The space should become a destination for corporate events with its golf simulators, dining, bar, lounge and entertainment, as well as pro golf instruction, Tour-level golf fitness and wellness programs.
“We offer so many great things, but the one thing that really separates us from other golf facilities and clubs is our superior service with attention to detail,” said Jeannine Harrington, general manager at Golf & Body NYC.
Barry Goodman, senior managing director of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, represented Atlantic Realty Development Corp. and is currently marketing the building’s availability on the second floor — 23,000 s/f, also with 20’-ceiling heights.
