C&K Properties announced that HNTB has signed a longterm lease for 11,387 S/F at 2 Gateway Center, C&K’s Class A office building in downtown Newark.
HNTB, an international architecture, engineering, and construction management firm, secured a Grow NJ Award to facilitate the move.
As part of their Grow NJ credit, HNTB has agreed to bring 35 new jobs to New Jersey with their move to 2 Gateway.
The firm’s lease agreement also allows for expansion to up to 13,000 additional square feet of space in the building, accounting for the firm’s rapid growth in recent years.
HNTB utilized 2 Gateway’s innovative Incentives Concierge Program, through which brokerage professionals and companies can obtain free, customized analysis of the cost savings for prospective tenants under the New Jersey Economic Opportunity Act of 2013, including the Grow NJ program.
“It’s clear that, through the robust incentives provided through the the Grow NJ program, 2 Gateway Center provided immense value to HNTB,” said Ben Korman, Co-Founder and Principal of C&K Properties.

“In addition to the building’s superior infrastructure, technology, and accessibility, this award helps to provide an unparalleled package for growing businesses like HNTB throughout the region.”
HNTB is based in Manhattan – only a 20 minute train ride from Newark Penn Station, which is connected via pedestrian walkway to 2 Gateway – and employs over 3,500 professionals worldwide.
The firm maintains several working relationships with transportation agencies in the State, having served as New Jersey Turnpike Authority’s general consulting engineer, New Jersey Transit Sandy recovery program manager, and New Jersey Transit’s Mid-Line Loop designer.
CBRE Senior Vice President Dudley Ryan represented C&K in the transaction; HNTB was represented by Colliers International.
The company was also attracted to 2 Gateway’s reputation for advanced technological offerings and cutting-edge infrastructure.
Recently, the building achieved WiredScore’s first Platinum certification in the state of New Jersey. A Platinum certification guarantees choices when selecting an Internet service provider, full distribution of fiber connectivity throughout the building, best in class infrastructure to ensure protection against service interruptions, and administrative best practices to streamline tenants’ ability to get connected.
Part of Newark’s 2.6 million-square-foot Gateway Complex, 2 Gateway Center is located in the city’s downtown business district along Market Street between McCarter Highway and Mulberry Street.
2 Gateway Center is connected to an enclosed pedestrian walkway leading to Newark Penn Station, where commuters can access NJ TRANSIT, PATH, Newark Subway, Light Rail, and AMTRAK lines.
Currently, 2 Gateway Center is marketing leasing opportunities ranging from 3,000 to 360,000 s/f of Class A office space.
