The NY Metropolitan Chapter of the Appraisal Institute held its monthly conference Sep. 19 at Club 101 in Midtown. The theme of the event was “Real Estate Synergies: Arts, Sciences and Infastructure.”
NYC Economic Development Corporation President Seth Pinsky delivered the opening remarks to a crowd of more than 100 attendees.
Panelists included Karen Brooks-Hopkins, President of Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), Justin Elghanayan, President and CFO of Rockrose Development Corporation, Mary Anne Gilmartin, Executive VP, Commercial and Residential Development at Forest City Ratner, David Kramer, Principal, The Hudson Companies, Jonathan Mechanic, Partner, Fried Frank, Peter Mullan, VP for Planning and Design, Friends of the High Line, Paul Pariser, Co-CEO of Taconic Investment Partners, LLC and Philip Wharton, SVP, US Development, Brookfield Office Properties.
Following the panel sessions and lunch, keynote speaker Mitchell L. Moss, Director of the Rudin Center for Transportation, and Henry Hart Rice Professor of Urban Policy and Planning at New York University, took to the podium and spoke about past and present New York City, what makes NYC different from other major cities and what lies ahead for the city’s housing market.
