WHO’S NEWS: Skanska announces Anita Woolley Nelson hired as Chief Strategy Officer for the company’s building operations.

Bergman Real Estate Group announced that Isabel Freire has been promoted to senior director of leasing and marketing.

Freire’s primary responsibilities include lease negotiation and preparation, marketing, public relations and new business development.

She has been instrumental in improving the overall occupancy and tenant retention of Bergman’s 17 office building portfolio located throughout New Jersey, totaling 2.1 million square Feet.

Freire joined Bergman as assistant director of leasing in 2015, and previously served as a sales broker with Jones Lang LaSalle.


Cozen O’Connor announced that Ariel S. Holzer, a litigator who brings nearly 15 years of experience in complex zoning and land use application processes, has joined its National Real Estate Practice Group.

Holzer comes to the firm from GoldmanHarris LLC and joins the firm’s midtown Manhattan office as counsel.

Holzer will work with clients to prepare zoning and land use applications and represent them before a range of key New York City regulatory bodies. He will also continue to represent clients in Article 78 disputes and support Cozen O’Connor’s real estate transaction, administrative, and litigation departments.

Fluent in Hebrew, Holzer earned his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and his B.A. from Talmudic University of Florida.


VTS announced the appointment of Bob Bies as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Bies brings with him over 20 years of CFO experience in venture, private equity, public technology and software/SaaS companies.

He joins the firm from Syncsort where he served as CFO for over two years and where he led the acquisition of 13 software companies.

Prior to Syncsort, Bies served as CFO at Cannondale Investments, Inc., post-exit advisor at Microsoft, executive vice president and CFO at Greenfield Online, Inc., and CFO at JGI. Bies began his career at Deloitte in New York City.


The Hampshire Companies announced the promotion of John Durso to Head of Development.

Durso will oversee Hampshire’s development activity in the industrial, residential, office, self-storage and retail sectors.

Since joining Hampshire in 2003, Durso has held numerous roles overseeing the firm’s property management, transactional management, asset management, and portfolio management services.

Recently, heoversaw the construction of Fox Rothschild’s new headquarters at 49 Market Street in Morristown, NJ.

Durso is a graduate of James Madison University. While attending James Madison University he competed as part of their NCAA Division 1 wrestling program.

Durso has also competed internationally as a representative of the US National Cycling Team.


Clarion Partners announced that Susan Boccardi has joined the firm as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer.

She is a Managing Director and member of the Firm’s Operating Committee, reporting to Chief Executive Officer David Gilbert.

Boccardi will oversee the firm’s legal function and provide legal perspective and advice to the senior management team and investment professionals on a variety of regulatory, compliance, strategic and tactical issues.

Boccardi most recently spent five years at J.P. Morgan, where she led the 17-attorney global legal team for the Wealth Management Managed Investments business and advised on strategy and product development during a period of unprecedented growth.

Prior to her time with JPM, she served as Head of the Investments Legal Group at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management where she advised on legal and regulatory matters in the 2009 joint venture with Citigroup, resulting in formation of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.

Prior to her time in financial services, Boccardi spent 12 years practicing corporate law with the firm Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York.

She holds both a B.A. and a J.D. from Georgetown University in Washington, DC.


WinnResidential announced the appointment of multifamily property management veterans to Vice President roles.

Sabrin Basile joins the team as Regional Vice President overseeing property operations of the New York City region of the WinnResidential portfolio.

She joins the company from Related Management Company, where she spent 15 years and most recently held the role of Regional Vice President.

Basile offers 30 years of experience in the conventional and affordable multi-family housing management field. She has worked in property management roles for Congress Management, National Housing Partners Management, AIMCO and Corcoran Jennison.

She worked her way up the multi-family ranks from her entry level dual role as a Porter/Leasing Agent.

Kristina Gabehart joins the team as Regional Vice President overseeing property operations of WinnResidential’s New York region (excluding New York City).

The portfolio includes conventional, affordable and subsidized housing programs in cities including but not limited to Rochester, Albany and Malone.

She joins the company from LEDIC Management Group, where she spent 14 years and most recently held the position of Area Manager.

Gabehart offers 22 years of experience in the multi-family housing management field.

She has worked in property management roles for Van Roy Properties, AIMCO and Lipton Group.

She began as a Property Manager and spent the beginning of her career working in the midwestern states of Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri.

Choni Wilcox joins the team as Executive Vice President in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Kareem Slater joins the team as Senior Vice President overseeing property operations of WinnResidential’s Mid-Atlantic region.

Barbara Bretonjoins the team as Divisional Vice President in the Western region.


McDermott Will & Emery announced the arrival of Todd Eisner as partner in the Real Estate Practice in the Firm’s New York office.

Eisner offers clients experienced counsel as they undertake acquisition and development transactions, recapitalizations, joint ventures and investments in all real estate sectors.

He is the third new partner addition to the Firm’s real estate practice this year.

Todd has extensive nationwide experience handling all aspects of acquisitions and dispositions of real estate and both sponsors’ and investors’ interests in development, transitional and stabilized properties.

He joins the firm from Duval & Stachenfeld, LLP where he was a senior partner handling many high-profile projects across the country. He has been consistently recognized by Super Lawyers since 2008.

Todd received his BA from George Washington University, his MBA from Fordham University and his JD from Brooklyn Law School.


Skanska announced today that Anita Woolley Nelson has been hired as Chief Strategy Officer for the company’s building operations.

Nelson will join the USA Building Senior Leadership Team and lead the initiative to analyze emerging trends and harness market data to ensure the health, viability, and sustainability of the business going forward.

With more than 15 years of industry experience, Nelson joins Skanska from AECOM’s Construction Services Group, where she served as Senior Vice President of Strategy, Marketing and Communications.

In this role, she led the development of the Construction Services Group’s global strategy over a diverse portfolio.

Nelson served on the board of the Women’s Builder’s Council from late 2017 to May of 2019, where she created Women Build New York, an event focused on creating a culture of diversity within the industry.

She graduated from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Arts before receiving her Master of Business Administration from the University of Nevada.
