WHO’S NEWS: Loeb & Loeb announces that Peter A. Strauss has joined the firm’s Real Estate Practice as a partner

Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP announced that Laurinda Martins has rejoined the firm as a partner in the Real Estate Department.

Martins has extensive experience and expertise in sophisticated commercial real estate transactions, including large scale acquisitions, joint ventures, and development.

She rejoins Fried Frank from longtime client Brookfield Property Group, where she was a senior vice president and oversaw the legal aspects of a variety of complex projects, including most recently the $11.4 billion acquisition of Forest City, among others.

Prior to her role at Brookfield, she was a partner in Fried Frank’s Real Estate Department.

Martins received her JD, magna cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law and her BA and BSBA, cum laude, from the University of Florida.


Eversheds Sutherland announced that John J. Busillo, a 30-year real estate veteran, has joined the New York office as a partner in the Real Estate Practice group.

Busillo joins Eversheds Sutherland from Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer.

Busillo concentrates his practice on commercial real estate finance and the workout and disposition of distressed real estate. H

Busillo has developed strong relationships with many life insurance company lenders, which will provide synergies with Eversheds Sutherland’s robust insurance practice in New York.

Following Busillo’s arrival, John W. Benson, an Eversheds Sutherland real estate partner who previously divided his time between the legal practices in the Atlanta and New York offices, is relocating his real estate structured finance practice full time to New York.


Loeb & Loeb LLP announced that Peter A. Strauss has joined the firm’s Real Estate Practice as a partner.

He advises both domestic and international clients on a broad range of transactions.

Strauss’ work includes advising owners and tenants in complex leasing deals involving high-profile commercial properties in New York City and other major markets.

Strauss’ recent work include advising New York City’s largest office landlord on a 2.6 million square foot lease extension for a major financial services firm, representing the owner of one of New York City’s most iconic buildings in lease transactions covering in excess of 1.2 million rentable square feet, representing a major professional sports league and its advanced media affiliate with respect to a new headquarters lease covering 400,000 s/f at 1271 Avenue of the Americas, representing the New York City Economic Development Corporation on their 220,000 s/f lease at One Liberty Plaza, and numerous other large-scale and highly intricate transactions.

Strauss earned his J.D. from St. John’s University and his B.A. from Washington University. He has also served as an adjunct professor at St. John’s University School of Law.


North American Properties (NAP) announced that industry veteran Mark J. Fetah has joined the firm as Senior Vice President/Director, for the Riverton Master Planned Projects, a $2.5 billion, 5 million sq. ft. mixed-use development comprised of 400 acres on the Raritan River in Sayreville, NJ.

Fetah is a hands-on real estate development and construction veteran who has delivered 40-plus million square feet of commercial, residential, hospitality, retail, resort and mixed-use projects throughout the United States and abroad.

In his new role with NAP, he will be responsible for design, engineering, permitting, approvals, construction and management of the multi-phased Riverton program.

Fetah began his career in general contracting and held senior leadership executive roles on noteworthy ventures such as Epcot Center (Orlando); Euro Disneyland (Paris); 7 World Trade Center (New York); Hudson River Park Trust (New York).

Prior to joining NAP, Fetah oversaw the development, design, project management and CAPEX operations for two of national real estate investment funds.

He received his B.S. degree in Architectural Engineering, Advanced Construction Management Option, from Penn State.

He later earned an M.S. in Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University and an M.B.A. from University Lausanne in Lausanne, Switzerland.


Rand Commercial announced that Robert Weaver has joined its White Plains, NY team.

Weaver has been in the real estate industry since 1976, building his reputation in in New Hampshire before moving to New York in 2012.

He previously ran his own agency and served as the president of the Board of Realtors in New Hampshire, as well as the New Hampshire Economic Development Coordinator.

He worked on the Town Development committee, the Industrial Development Authority and with the State of New Hampshire on economic development.


Savills announced the arrival of Rory Cameron as a senior managing director based in D.C.

He will be responsible for expanding the firm’s global Retail Services platform and providing customized real estate solutions for retail clients in the Mid-Atlantic region and throughout the country.

Cameron spent the last 11 years as director of leasing at McCaffery Inc., completing several significant transactions in the D.C. region, including the sale of 2825 Wilson Boulevard to Chase Bank.

Before that, Cameron worked at Credit Suisse in short-term fixed income trading.

In total, he has completed approximately one million square feet of transactions over the course of his career.

The firm currently has retail teams across North America, including New York, Los Angeles and now Washington.


Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr LLP announced that Timothy J. Pastore has joined the firm as a litigation partner.

Pastore, a former military and federal prosecutor, provides legal counsel to corporate clients and individuals in litigation and arbitration matters across the country, particularly involving commercial real estate, electronic security/home automation, and cybersecurity/data privacy.

His real estate litigation experience ranges from commercial mortgage foreclosures and repurchase claims to fair value purchase options and breach of servicing standards.

Before joining Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr, Mr. Pastore was a shareholder at a national firm and, more recently, a partner and the chair of the Litigation Department at Duval & Stachenfeld LLP.

Before entering private practice, Pastore was as a Captain and Judge Advocate (JAG) in the U.S. Air Force and a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice.

He earned his J.D. from Boston College Law School and his B.A. from Bucknell University.


Breaking Ground, New York’s largest supportive housing developer and manager, announced the appointment of Ann Tirschwell, Principal at Type A Projects, to its board of directors.

Prior to establishing Type A Projects, Tirschwell co-founded the nonprofit development group Civic Builders Inc., where she was responsible for the development of facilities for public charter schools, including the creation of 15 buildings valued at over $500 million.

Tirschwell began her career as a member of the Chelsea Market development team. She went on to develop numerous industrial buildings for the Greenpoint Manufacturing and Design Center, a non-profit real estate developer with a mission to retain affordable manufacturing facilities and retain blue collar jobs in the outer boroughs.

In 2003, she co-founded the nonprofit Civic Builders, a prolific developer of facilities for charter schools.

Since co-founding Type A Projects in 2013, Tirschwell has turned her focus to affordable housing and is currently developing over 650 units of housing in the Bronx, including at Bronx Point where they have joint ventured with L+M Development Partners. The project will revitalize the former industrial site open space and waterfront access alongside the Universal Hip Hop Museum.


Seward & Kissel LLP announced that Rhona Kisch has joined the firm as a partner in the Real Estate Group.

Kisch advises financial institutions, investors, developers, property owners and tenants on commercial real estate acquisitions, sales, financings, construction, and leases.

Her work spans office buildings, hotels, shopping centers, and multifamily housing, among other property types.

Kisch received her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law, and holds a B.S. from the University of Colorado.

She also performed post-graduate work in environmental and natural resources law at the Northwestern University School of Law at Lewis & Clark College.

She comes to Seward & Kissel from Hahn & Hessen LLP, where she was a partner and head of the firm’s real estate practice.


Gino Ziccardi has joined Integrated Business Systems (IBS) as a sales representative specializing in construction management, property management and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for the real estate and manufacturing sectors.

An experienced information technology professional, Ziccardi is serving as a business solutions consultant for owners and executives in the New Jersey/New York marketplace. His career began in the insurance industry, where he focused on client studies.

Ziccardi graduated from The American College.


Optimar International announced that Ana Sallay Knoll has joined the Reddstone Group as a partner in its commercial and investment sales division.

Knoll, a Brazilian native, graduated with a law degree in Rio, but moved to New York to become an original member of the Alexander Team at Douglas Elliman.

She has a history of corporate relationships with clients such as Bose, Fasano Group and Room Mate Hotels.


Ted Moudis Associates (TMA) announced the promotion of seven of its employees.

Patrick Ventker, LEED AP, RIBA has been named Team Principal. He has over 20 years of experience which ranges from corporate interiors to large-scale infrastructure projects and master planning for projects throughout the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

Landmark projects include AQR Capital Management, Fortress Investment Group, and Morgan Stanley in New York City.

Patrick studied architectural design at Bauhaus-Universitaet in Weimar, Germany, and earned a diploma-Engineer of Architecture at RWTH University in Aachen, Germany.

Jamie Feuerborn, LEED AP has been named Senior Associate. Jamie has more than 15 years of experience in workplace consulting, interior design, and project management. Landmark projects include Publicis and Foot Locker. Jamie holds a bachelor’s degree in interior design from Kansas State University.

Johnny Rodland has been named Senior Associate. He is a team leader with more than 30 years of architectural experience managing corporate interior and retail installations. He is currently working on offices for AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals in Ontario and Wilmington, DE. Johnny received a bachelor’s degree in architecture from The City College of New York.

TMA also promoted four of its staff to associate:

John Herrera is a Team Leader with more than 27 years of experience in architecture, interior design, and project management, specializing in the commercial and retail sectors. He has completed projects for the Durst Organization, LeFrak and Kaplan. John received associate’s degrees in architectural technology from New York Technical College and in accounting from the Borough of Manhattan Community College.

Andrés Navia is a Team Leader who with more than 15 years of work in architectural design and project administration. He has managed projects in the retail, transportation, commercial, high-end residential and corporate interior sectors. Recent work includes spaces for Credit Suisse and Skanska. Andrés received a Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Science in civil engineering/construction management from New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Ray Sell is a Team Leader with 18 years of experience in architecture, interior design and project management, specializing in office interiors, retail and residential spaces. Clients include Rolex Watch U.S.A. and StonePeak Infrastructures. Ray received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in illustration from the School of Visual Arts and an Associate of Arts in graphic design from SUNY Rockland.

Doug Wramage is a Team Leader with 25 years of experience focused on architecture and interior design. He has completed projects for clients in the retail, legal, financial, media and health and wellness sectors including Colliers New York, NFL, Revlon, and NASCAR. Doug received his Master of Industrial Design and Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute.
