
JLL’s New York Capital Markets team has hired Aaron Appel and Max Herzog as managing directors.
In addition, Keith Kurland joins as an executive vice president while Jon Schwartz and Michael Diaz join as vice presidents.
The newly added real estate investment banking experts will work under the direction of executive managing director Peter Nicoletti for clients seeking financing opportunities between $25-150 million as well as larger transactions in excess of $250 million.
All five new hires come to JLL from Meridian Capital Group Appel and Herzog served as managing directors and were directly involved in $3 billion and $2 billion in transactions, respectively.
The two co-led a finance team that included Kurland, who served as a senior vice president and Schwartz and Diaz as vice presidents.
Their focus is primarily on financings for office, retail and multifamily properties as well as development projects.

Jonathan Rose Companies, LLC has named Michael Daly chief operating officer of the firm.
Most recently, Daly was president of Forest City Enterprises’ affiliate, Mesa del Sol, responsible for the overall master plan and development for a 9,000-acre, new urbanism mixed-use project in Albuquerque, NM that will ultimately include 38,000 homes and 18 million square feet of commercial development.
Prior to that, he founded Sterling Glen Communities, a joint venture with Forest City Enterprises. Ultimately, the company was sold to Lazard Feres (Atria Senior Living).
Daly started his real estate career working at Forest City Ratner Companies, where he responsible for leasing and development of the firm’s commercial properties in Brooklyn and Manhattan,

Carlton Group chairman Howard L. Michaels announced the appointment of three new top executives:
Navish Chawla was named chief investment officer with primary responsibility for overseeing the firm’s principal investment strategy and business development initiatives.
Chawla has more than 10 years of real estate experience and has underwritten and managed more than $2 billion of real estate transactions globally.
He previously served as a portfolio manager for a private equity fund overseeing the company’s $500 million portfolio across the U.S. and Western Europe. His prior roles include acquisition and asset management for Blackrock’s core and value-add funds.
Chawla graduated with a Master’s degree in Real Estate from New York University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Economics from Rutgers University.
Bob Hasan was named senior vice president of asset management with responsibility for managing the assets within Carlton Strategic Ventures, an investment management platform which owns and manages more than three million square feet for Carlton and the firm’s clients.
Prior to joining Carlton, Hasan was a senior asset manager with GE Capital Real Estate. Before that, he worked at Prudential Financial.
Hasan graduated Cum Laude with an MBA and a BS in Finance from Seton Hall University.
Rebekah Flig is the new director of marketing and public relations with primary responsibilities overseeing all marketing and PR strategies for the Carlton Group and Carlton Strategic Ventures, the firms principal investment platform.
Flig has more than 10 years of experience in commercial mortgage banking. Prior to joining Carlton, she held positions at, Rosin & Associates; D.B. Zwirn; and the Ackman/Ziff Real Estate Group, Congress Financial Corp, and Wachovia.
Flig graduated with a Masters Degree in Real Estate Finance from New York University and holds a BBA in Finance from the George Washington University.

Fox Rothschild LLP welcomed Mitchel Hill as a partner in the New York office.
He has extensive experience with the acquisition, sale and financing of multifamily and health care related real estate.
He will also be joining Fox’s growing Real Estate and Housing Finance Group.
Hill represented a New York City real estate investment and development company in the sale of a 400,000 s/f development parcel in the Hudson Yards; Counseled a major life insurance company, a large hedge fund and a short-duration loan fund in the creation of a short-term $50+ million transitional bridge lending platform.
Hill earned his J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law and his B.S. from the University of North Carolina.
He was previously a partner at Seyfarth Shaw LLP in New York.

Kent M. Swig, president of Swig Equities, LLC, announced that James Rizzi has been appointed property manager of 110 William Street, a 32-story commercial office building containing 900,000 s/f in Downtown Manhattan’s FiDi office market.
Rizzi brings many years of experience working with top tier firms including Kushner Companies, Stellar Management, Titan Painting Incorporated and the Stanton Hedge Fund.

Harwood is a NYS Licensed Real Estate Broker and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Harwood has over 30 years of experience in high profile commercial and residential real estate transactions.
He previously served as senior vice president/treasurer for Cohen Brothers Realty Corp. He was also the vice president-finance for Solow Realty & Development Company.
Harwood’s professional career also encompassed his roles as: chief financial officer with CLK/HP; chief operating officer at Prudential CRES Commercial Real Estate; chief operating officer at Century Operating Corp.; vice president & chief financial officer at Grayside Realty Group; and vice president at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette – DLJ Real Estate, Inc.

Kevin P. Daly has joined Rudin Management Company as vice president of commercial leasing.

Daly has nearly 15 years of experience in both tenant and landlord representation.
He previously served as a senior director in Cushman & Wakefield’s Midtown office. Before that, he spent five years at Chelsea Piers in various positions, including sales, management and programming.
Daly earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from American International College in Springfield, MA.

Andrew Schwartz has rejoined Cushman & Wakefield as a director in the Metropolitan Area Capital Markets Group (CMG).
He will be based in Cushman & Wakefield’s Morristown office and will focus on middle-market investment transactions in the $2-15 million range.
Schwartz initially joined Cushman & Wakefield in 1985 as a broker in industrial sales and office leasing for eight years before leaving for Wall Street and the financial services industry.
Most recently, he spent 11 years with Abel Noser, an agency broker and quantitative analysis firm. Prior to that he was a financial adviser for Morgan Stanley.

Hartz Group has named Ronald Bangs its new chief financial officer.
He previously held the position of COO/CFO for the Hartz Capital, Inc. and CFO for Hartz Mountain Corporation, both affiliates of Secaucus-based Hartz Mountain Industries.
Bangs joined Hartz in 1996 as the CFO for Hartz Mountain Corporation and then moved to Hartz Capital, Inc., the privately held investment arm of the Hartz Group, when it was created in 2005.
The Hartz Capital portfolio is run opportunistically and invests across a variety of asset classes, including debt and equity securities, financial and physical commodities, and direct equity investments.
Bangs is a graduate of Bucknell University and holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.

Massey Knakal Realty Services announced that Karl Brumback has been awarded Realtor Associate of the Year by The Bronx-Manhattan North Association Of Realtors (BMAR).
For nearly a decade, Brumback has been handling investment sales at Massey Knakal and has become the territory expert for various Bronx neighborhoods including Fordham, Riverdale, Kingsbridge and Wakefield.
He has sold over 65 properties or notes with an aggregate consideration of nearly $400 million.
His most noteworthy transaction was the Hamilton Dunbar Portfolio, which consisted of a 15-building portfolio of 1,100 units that sold for over $139 million.
Brumback graduated from the University of North Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and went on to the University of Virginia’s Darden School to earn his MBA.
Before real estate, he worked in management consulting, supply chain management, manufacturing operations and immunotoxicolgy research.

Previously, Filgueiras was a Realtor associate at International Group Realty in Miami, FL. Earlier, she was a Realtor associate at Prudential Florida Realty in Aventura, FL.
She also held positions at Black Mana Studio in New York, GMR Marketing in West Palm Beach, FL and Edward J. Abramson, PA in Miami, FL.

She will be focusing on Bedford Stuyvesant, Bushwick, Crown Heights, Ditmas Park, Flatbush, Kensington, Midwood, Ocean Parkway and Prospect Lefferts Gardens.
Previously, Massey was a managing broker of the Chicago Apartment Leasing Group at KPJ Properties in Chicago.
Before launching her real estate career, she served as a director of new product development at CCH, Inc. in Riverwoods, IL; Marketing manager at COMDISCO in Rosemont, IL; and project manager at University of Chicago Hospital.
Massey earned a Master of Management degree with majors in finance, marketing, and health services management from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Tufts University.
