The Engel Burman Group hired that Andreas Boyiakis as its construction division as Insurance Coordinator.
Boyiakis’ major responsibilities include binding insurance for projects and subcontractor compliance.
Previously, Boyiakis served as Operations Manager of Magnetic Construction Group and its subsidiary, Magnetic Builders Group LLC. He was responsible for managing company insurance policies, subcontractor compliance and all legal matters pertaining to claims.
Earlier in his career, he served in a managerial capacity for Long M.A. Angeliades, Inc., handling all insurance claims, and for PAX Associates.
Boyiakis earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration from New York Institute of Technology.

Jaros, Baum & Bolles announced its promotions for 2019, including new Associate Partner John-David DesLoges.
DesLoges has been at JB&B since 2004, managing the design of a wide range of electrical systems. He’s worked on The Greenwich Lane and 111 West 57th Street, a 1,400-foot tall luxury high-rise and he is currently leading the electrical design on One Vanderbilt.
Robert A. Downward, whose work includes the Whitney Museum of American Art and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, has been named Director of HVAC, and Peter Li, who joined in 2017 and has since worked on Hudson Yards is now Director of Plumbing & Fire Protection.
Other management-level promotions include Beth S. Muller and John J. Stapleton, both now Senior Associates. Muller focuses on technology design and project management while Stapleton is primarily involved in the testing and commissioning of critical systems.
Eight engineers—Molly H. Dee (Commissioning), Robert F. Dwyer (Information Technology), Peter J. Harman (HVAC), Jonathan W. Koop (HVAC), Murad Peshimam (Electrical), Ariton Popinara (Electrical), John A. Vinueza (Commissioning) and Robert R. Wager (HVAC)—were promoted to Associate.

Joseph Nawa has been promoted to vice president within RT Specialty’s National Environmental and Construction Professional Liability Practice.
Nawa joined the New Day team as a consultant in 2013. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Temple University as well as Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designations.

Shawmut Design and Construction announced the appointment of Reza Amirkhalili as chief operating officer. Starting March 11, Amirkhalili will lead all construction operations efforts, reporting to Chief Executive Officer Les Hiscoe.
Amirkhalili brings over 30 years of construction industry expertise. In his new role, he will implement construction strategy and growth plans with a key focus on client experience.
Before Shawmut, Amirkhalili had a 25-year tenure with Faithful+Gould Inc. While there, he rose in the ranks as executive vice president, chief operating officer, and, most recently, president and managing director. Amirkhalili is highly experienced in overseeing delivery of project management, cost management, project controls, and other consulting services in the built environment.

Jaros, Baum & Bolles announced that Aimee Totaro has joined the firm as Director of Human Resources.
Prior to joining JB&B, Aimee Totaro served as Vice President of Human Resources for commercial real estate and data analytics firm REIS.
As Director of Human Resources for JB&B, Ms. Totaro will enhance company culture, recruit industry talent and expand training programs in addition to her focus on diversity and inclusion.

MBB announced promotions for two key team members.
Taylor Aikin, AIA, LEED GA, was promoted to Associate Partner. and Rebecca Arcaro, AIA, was promoted to Senior Associate.
Aikin has been a core member of MBB’s design, management and leadership teams since joining the firm in 2015.
His notable recent works include PS19Q, a new full-building addition to a public school in Queens, and the award-winning Glass Walls project, part of the restoration and renovation of iconic St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
Aikin holds a Master of Architecture from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation, and a Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Rebecca Arcaro has worked on major cultural projects, including the ongoing renovation and expansion of the Park Avenue Synagogue, a Master Plan for St. Paul’s Chapel, the first phase of renovations at Trinity Church Wall Street and the renovation of the Mertz Gilmore meeting house.
She holds a Master of Architecture from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at Columbia College at Columbia University. She joined Murphy Burnham & Buttrick in August of 2013, and was appointed Associate in 2014 before being elevated to Senior Associate.

CNY appointed Michael Geary as Director of its Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Technical Services Group.
In his new role, Mr. Geary will be responsible for managing CNY’s Technical Services MEP professionals.
Prior to joining CNY, Mr. Geary held various positions at construction management firms, working on large projects in the residential, hospitality, commercial and gaming sectors throughout New York City.
Geary received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and French from Manhattan College.

Svigals + Partners promoted three key team members: Marissa Mead to Director of Art Integration, and both Alana Konefal and Dan Dryzgula to Associate.
Marissa Mead has led several large-scale projects including Interdistrict Discovery Magnet School, Allingtown University Commons, New Britain Bridge, and the ESPN Technology Lab.
Alana Konefal has led several project teams for the firm, managing the day-to-day operations of each. Her portfolio includes Sandy Hook School in Newtown, CT and projects at Goodwin College.
Dan Dryzgula started as an intern with Svigals + Partners while studying at Wentworth Institute of Technology. His current work includes design and project management for Southern Connecticut State University’s new Health and Human Services Building. Previously completed projects include Woodcreek Capital Management, Achillion Pharmaceuticals, a major lab renovation for Yale University, and the innovative new fMRI research facility at the University of Connecticut.

Goldman Copeland named Tristan Schwartzman a principal of the firm who will also continue to serve as Director of Energy Services.
Schwartzman completed energy audits and retro-commissioning projects for more than 30 million square feet of commercial properties.
Schwartzman joins four other principals at Goldman Copeland, which has provided engineering services to renowned buildings in the Greater New York City area.

Hoffmann Architects promoted several members of its technical staff.
Tai Mahmuti has been promoted to Project Engineer. After joining Hoffmann Architects in 2015 as Project Coordinator, his precocity earned him a promotion to Senior Project Coordinator in 2017 and to Project Manager later that year. Mahmuti earned an engineering degree from Carleton University in Ontario.
Amanda L. Miller was promoted to Senior Staff Architect. Miller joined Hoffmann Architects in 2017 as Staff Architect, and, since then, has proven to be a valued project team member. After earning a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Notre Dame, Miller completed the master’s degree program in design studies at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design
Richard W. Off has been promoted to Senior Staff Architect. After joining Hoffmann Architects in 2016 as Project Representative, Off’s projects include exterior rehabilitation of Countee Cullen Library in Harlem, historic facade restoration and roof replacement at First Presbyterian Church in Greenwich Village, and copper roof replacement at the State University of New York at Farmingdale Lupton Hall. Off earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a master’s degree in architecture and urban design from Columbia University.
