WHO’S NEWS: director tapped for new Friedland Investment Sales Division

RM Friedland announced it has launched an Investment Sales Division and named John Barrett managing director.

In addition, Marco Lala has been named senior vice president, bringing with him a sales team with a track record in The Bronx and Northern Manhattan.

During his career, John Barrett has specialized in the sale of income-producing assets of all types in Westchester and Rockland counties.

After spending seven years at Massey Knakal, where he led the firm’s expansion into Westchester, Barrett joined Admiral Real Estate as their Investment Sales Division head. Since 2005, he has evaluated and marketed more than $950 million worth of investment real estate in the New York Metro area.
Marco Lala is one of the most active investment property specialists in Northern Manhattan.

He has handled the sale of over 450 buildings with a total value over $1.5 billion in the New York metropolitan area. Previously, Lala was a partner at Massey Knakal and a top producing agent and team leader at Marcus & Millichap. He joins RM Friedland with his sales team, Team Lala: David Raciti, Jack Lala and Michelle Lala.

Newmark Knight Frank (NKF) has hired industry veteran Jeff Schotz as Executive Managing Director.
Based in the firm’s Rutherford, NJ office, he will lead the Agency Services team in the New Jersey market.

Schotz has held positions with several of the region’s leading firms and has been involved in the leasing of more than 30 million square feet to many of the world’s premier corporations, including Microsoft, CBS, Pepsi-Cola, JP Morgan Chase and Ernst & Young.

His owner representations have included the Somerset Corporate Center in Bridgewater and 11 Times Square in New York City.

Prior to Newmark Knight Frank, Schotz served as an Executive Vice President at SJP Properties. Before that, he was a partner at The Mack Company (now Mack-Cali). He began his career with Alfred Sanzari Enterprises and distinguished himself as a New Jersey market leader for both Colliers International and CBRE.

Schotz is a member of the NAIOP New Jersey Hall of Fame.

Capell Barnett Matalon & Schoenfeld LLP announced that Christopher Wright has joined the firm as counsel and William McManus has joined as an associate.

Christopher Wright is focused on expanding the firm’s Land Use & Zoning practice, serving clients in all five boroughs. He represents and advises New York property owners on all such matters.

He began his career working in the public sector, including the New York City Economic Development Corporation and the New York City Council Finance Committee.

He then moved into the private sector working for land use and zoning law firms. He has represented both for-profit and not-for-profit clients, including schools, religious organizations, and affordable housing developers.

William McManus practices in the area of Real Estate, Corporate and Commercial Transactions, and Religious and Charitable Organizations areas.

Prior to joining the firm, he worked at the New York City Law Department, Economic Development Division as a Special Assistant Corporation Counsel in Manhattan.

Jadian Capital announced that Matt Innes has joined the firm as Managing Director, Investor Relations.
He will lead the firm’s marketing and investor relations functions.

Innes joins the firm from Hodes Weill & Associates where he was a vice president responsible for institutional investor and adviser relationships across the US. Before that, he was with Building and Land

Technology where he was a founding member of the third-party management group that focused on opportunistic structured, platform and enterprise-level investments.

Earlier Innes was an associate in CBRE’s Institutional Properties Group.
