WHO’S NEWS: CBRE Announces Meghann Martindale, has joined the company as Global Head of Retail Research

Castle Lanterra Properties (CLP), a real estate investment firm, announced the expansion of its team with the hire of three senior professionals who will fill newly created roles to further elevate service standards. Specifically, CLP has significantly expanded its investor relations team with the addition of industry veterans Lynn Glantz as Vice President of Investor Relations, and Sandeep Murray as Associate, Investor Relations. CLP has also tapped attorney David Sheril to serve as senior counsel.

 Lynn Glantz joins CLP with nearly 20 years of investor relations marketing and fundraising experience, with a focus on private real estate funds. Glantz’ background includes positions with real estate investment firms Rockwood Capital and The Praedium Group — where she served as Vice President of Investor Relations — as well as Cantor Fitzgerald and UBS Global Asset Management. As Vice President of Investor Relations at CLP, Glantz will be responsible for overseeing fundraising and marketing initiatives, as well as servicing fund investors.

Sandeep Murray joins CLP having worked with major institutional investment firms including M&G Real Estate — where she served as the institutional client service manager for clients investing in open-ended direct real estate funds — as well as with Goldman Sachs, AllianceBernstein Global Wealth Management Group and Columbia Threadneedle Investments in London.

Over the course of her career, Murray has worked with a wide range of institutional and individual investors including public and private pension plans, financial institutions, sovereign wealth funds, trusts and high-net-worth individuals. As an investor relations associate at CLP, Murray will aid in the coordination of investor communications and reporting.

David Sheril joins as CLP’s senior counsel and will work to manage and oversee all legal matters for CLP as it relates to legal guidance for acquisitions, dispositions, and financing. He will also provide support as it pertains to investor relations, and corporate governance. Prior to joining CLP, Sheril was with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and Hahn & Hessen LLP.


Avison Young has welcomed five new additions to its New Jersey Office: Harley Brooks, Caroline Morris, Tony Bienert, Gabriel Miani, andKatie Sherman will expand the project management team.

 Both Brooks and Morris join as Project Accountants while Bienert joins as Director of Construction Management. In addition, Miani will join as Senior Project Manager, and Sherman as an Administrative Coordinator. These five new hires continue to build on the company’s remarkable growth and presence in the Tri-State area.

 Harley Brooks joins Avison Young after a successful run as Project & Account Analysis Manager at Barnes & Noble’s College. She will support Avison Young’s New Jersey and New York project management billing and related accounting functions.  

Caroline Morris brings over 10 years of experience, working for multiple industries such as property and auto insurance and engineering. She will support Avison Young’s New Jersey and Boston project management billing and related accounting functions.

 Tony Bienert has over 25 years of experience in construction and joins Avison Young after a successful run as Project Manager for Hollister Construction where he managed several high-profile projects. In his new role as Director of Construction Management, Bienert will be responsible for overseeing construction and project management for commercial and industrial projects.

 Gabriel Miani is an experienced project manager with over ten years of experience and joins Avison Young after serving as Capital Projects Manager for Hudson View Gardens where he managed large scale infrastructure projects as well as provided budget & regulatory guidance, conflict resolution, and master plan development.  

Katie Sherman will be working as Administrative Coordinator and joins Avison Young after graduating with honors from College of Saint Elizabeth.


CBRE has announced that Meghann Martindale, a veteran of 19 years in retail real estate and a frequent university lecturer and instructor, has joined the company as Global Head of Retail Research. She is based in New York City.

Martindale, who officially joined CBRE this week, will work closely with the company’s retail leaders and professionals to generate in-depth research and analysis examining the ongoing evolution of the retail industry into a consumer-directed, omnichannel marketplace. She also will coordinate CBRE’s global research on retail. Martindale succeeds Melina Cordero, who CBRE promoted in July to Managing Director of Retail Capital Markets.

Martindale is returning to CBRE, where she worked as a leasing and sales associate in San Francisco from 2001 to 2006. Her career has included work as a consultant on international retail expansion strategies, asset stabilization, leasing, development and repositioning. She also spent many years in leasing roles at Simon Property Group in New York, Related Urban in Los Angeles and Terranomics Retail Services in San Rafael, Calif. Her leasing career spans projects totaling more than 15 million s/f of retail, mixed use, restaurant, entertainment and food hall space.

She has also worked as an adjunct instructor of real estate development at NYU.


Commercial real estate services and investment management firm Colliers International Group announced that Erik Binkowski has joined the company as Senior Vice President.

Binkowski joins Colliers from Marcus & Millichap, where as a senior debt professional leading the Institutional Property Advisors venture, he procured and assisted debt solutions for clients along the East Coast with a focus on commercial properties, including office, industrial, retail, hotel, self-storage and more.

Over the last two decades, Binkowski has held leadership roles at a number of major commercial real estate firms where he helped clients build their businesses by leading equity raises, sourcing corporate debt, developing strategic partnerships and assisting developers accurately position large-scale projects in a changing financial market. He brings to Colliers expertise in a variety of industry sectors, including development, funding and leasing, which will all contribute to growing the firm’s debt and equity platform. During his professional career, Binkowski also worked at some of the most renowned financial firms in the world, including Goldman Sachs, The Carlyle Group, and HFF.

Prior to joining Colliers, Binkowski served as a Vice President at CBRE, where he solved complex capital markets challenges for clients across asset classes. He also previously held the position of Managing Director at Savills Studley.


Architectura, a New York/New Jersey based Architecture, Planning and Interior Design firm, announced that Theodore S. Hammer FAIA, LEED AP, a long-time industry leader, has joined the organization as Managing Principal, directing the establishment and growth of the firm’s office in Manhattan.  

Hammer has over 35 years of national and international experience working as design lead on diverse project types, integrating both architecture and interior design for media companies, corporate headquarters, private developers and government institutions. He is widely known and respected for his client-centered approach to project delivery, outstanding design, and understanding of technological innovation. He is recognized for building and managing firms that command leading roles in the industry.

Most recently, he served as Chairman at Mancini Duffy and previously as Managing Partner at HLW International, both with headquarters in New York City.


Sheryl Barr has been promoted to director of marketing and communications at RT New Day, a division of R-T Specialty, LLC, that serves as a specialty resource for agents and brokers.

Since joining the RT New Day team in 2009 as a marketing coordinator, Barr’s responsibilities have steadily increased to include the strategic development of RT New Day’s complete package of marketing and sales material, newsletters, email communications and social media activities.

In addition, she manages an in-depth and widely used blog that connects brokers to industry related articles and potential claims incidents and events.

Prior to RT New Day, Barr held sales and marketing positions with Golder Associates, Fluor Daniel, Davis Management Company and Biokinetics.
