Bushwick’s favorite pizzeria will add a third location, this one a mere a stone’s throw from the Williamsburg waterfront and the newly-minted Domino Park.
Roberta’s has leased almost 2,300 s/f on the ground floor of 260 Kent Avenue (building pictured top left), part of Two Trees Management’s 11-acre redevelopment project at the former Domino Sugar Factory.
Lee and Associates represented the restaurateurs in the deal while Two Trees was represented by in-house agents, Bonnie Campbell and Bridget McCrum.
Brandon Hoy and Carlo Mirarchi—the brains behind the original Roberta’s at the corner of Moore and Bogart Streets as well as the Manhattan follow-up on Park Avenue—are eying fall 2019 for the launch of the next slice shop.
“Similarly to when we opened Roberta’s in Bushwick, we see an incredible opportunity to be a part of a vibrant and dynamic community’s continual evolution,” Hoy said. “Roberta’s has always been a welcoming restaurant as well as an entrepreneurial incubator, and our new location in Domino Park will undoubtedly share the same attitude.”
First opened in 2008, Roberta’s in Bushwick has cultivated a cult following for its wood-fired pies made with home-grown ingredients from the rooftop garden at the converted industrial site.
Designed by COOKFOX Architects, the 42-story mixed-use building, with its 332 apartments and 150,000 s/f of office space, will be a dramatic change of aesthetics for the rustic pizzeria, but Two Trees principal Jed Walentas said the restaurant will be a perfect fit.
“Roberta’s is one of the most coveted tables in the city and we cannot wait to welcome their talented team to 260 Kent, in the heart of the Domino site and just steps from Domino Park,” Walentas said. “As part of our masterplan for the Domino site, we are committed to partnering with local retailers and food purveyors, like Roberta’s, who will contribute in creating an authentic neighborhood experience on the Williamsburg waterfront.”
The building will offer a total 13,000 s/f of retail space.
