The Beechwood Organization announces The Selby at 695 Merrick Avenue in Westbury – Long Island’s newest, amenity-rich 237-unit rental apartment building – is now pre-leasing for summer 2022 occupancy.
The Selby stands six-stories plus a mezzanine level on 5.87 acres with spectacular views of Eisenhower Park which is just steps away from its door. The 582,000-square-foot mixed-use development, designed for Beechwood by Ismael Leyva Architects, weaves thoughtful detail into every facet.
“We created The Selby to reflect the refined tastes and desire for well-being by well-heeled residents. It’s a sophisticated apartment living experience with a central Nassau County location. We are delighted to present The Selby and all it has to offer. It is second to none east of New York City,” says developer Steven Dubb, principal, The Beechwood Organization.
SOPHISTICATED LIVING AT THE SELBY
Across its 386,000 square feet of living space are 237 residences including 210 rental apartments, 27 long-term stay hotel suites and array of amenity spaces for relaxation, fitness, entertaining and recreation.
Among these are a 75-foot outdoor pool and terrace with 20,000 square feet of recreation space, great room with garden views, club room with indoor-outdoor bar, fully equipped fitness studio with yoga room, tranquility spa, library, game room, children’s playroom, business center and private event dining room with prep kitchen. In addition, there is private parking with electric car charging and a 6,000-square-foot restaurant is in the works.
Leasing for the 210 apartments, most with a den, balcony or terrace, and view of the park starts at $2,700/month for a 500+-square-foot studio up to $8,000/month for a 2,200-square-foot three-bedroom and three-bath apartment. The 27 furnished and residential-style executive suites for long-term stays offer residents the opportunity to host extended visits by family, friends and colleagues.
The Selby follows on Beechwood’s successful concept for The Vanderbilt also in Westbury. Within six-months of opening in 2018, the 195-unit amenity-rich building of 178 apartments and 17 long-term stay hotel suites was fully leased and continues to be popular.
“Our luxury apartment residents enjoy a high standard of living. They are young couples or professionals with dynamic lifestyles who want turn-key living. They want to stay or live on the Island but are not ready or looking to buy. They may also be empty nesters who relish the space, comfort and privacy of a long-held family abode but not the responsibility of owning it. Whether year-round or part of the year, our residents want a new, well-constructed home with resort-style amenities and concierge services reflective of their coveted quality of life. The Selby and The Vanderbilt give all of this to them. They can come home, on Long Island, to a highly-designed and high-end residence with all the perks,” says Mr. Dubb.
CHARMING ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN & WELL-APPOINTED RESIDENCES
Beechwood engaged Ismael Leyva Architects on the architectural and interior design for The Selby. The New York City based firm is recognized for such luxury apartment buildings as the Residences at Time Warner Center, Fifteen Hudson Yards and the Zaha Hadid Building along the Highline.
“The Selby is designed as a French chateau style revival building that pays tribute to the charm of its neighborhood with the comfort of modern living homes and an array of luxury amenities,” says architect Ismael Leyva, FAIA.
Artfully crafted from the inside out and, The Selby was thoughtfully positioned to maximize sweeping park and fairway views. Setting the scene from the moment of arrival, the grand entry court leads to a magnificent two-story lobby. Here a blend of design detail, textures and materials comes to life from a sculptural, jeweled chandelier to etched brass accents and custom millwork. The design vision extends to every corner of the building where common areas are designed to feel like an extension of one’s living room.
Every detail of the residences showcases elegance and sophistication. Ceilings rise nine-to-ten feet above airy, open-plan interiors where expansive windows draw abundant natural light and frame sweeping views of Eisenhower Park. Classic and contemporary design elements unite in clean lines warmed by wood tones and stone accents. Fine finishes add sheen to chef-worthy kitchens and designer baths with top-of-the-line appliances and fixtures.
LOCATION
The Selby places residents directly across the street from the tree-lined trails and rolling green fairways of Eisenhower Park in the Village of Westbury. Recreation is at their doorstep including three golf courses, tennis courts, skating rinks and the largest aquatics center in the Northeast. Minutes away are top shopping destinations, world-class dining, sports venues, arts and entertainment centers and picturesque beaches. From its commuter-friendly location, The Selby offers nearby access to Long Island’s freeways and the Westbury LIRR station with 40-minute service to New York City’s Penn Station.
AN ENDURING ASSET
“When we created The Vanderbilt, we wanted an enduring asset for our business and for Long Island. The Selby, like The Vanderbilt, is a natural extension of all Beechwood has done over the past 35 years and will continue to do across the region,” says Mr. Dubb.
