A pharma company that supplies surgical supplies to nursing homes has leased 60,000 s/f of professional office and lab space in Uniondale.
ChemRX Pharmacy Services LLC, plans to move 125 employees from Long Beach to occupy 60,000 square feet currently used by Lab Corp. of America at 51 Charles Lindbergh, Blvd, Uniondale. Lab Corp. is moving its Uniondale operations with 116 workers to New Jersey in June.
The Town of Hempstead Industrial Development Agency (IDA) has given preliminary approval to an application for an extension of economic development benefits to Angion Biomedica Corp. a biopharmaceutical company and its affiliated landlord to renovate the Uniondale building to accommodate the new tenant.
“The preliminary approval granted today by the IDA will assist two companies that are critical to not only the economy of the Town of Hempstead, but also the health of people everywhere in these difficult times,” said Fred Parola, chief executive of the IDA.
Angion, which tests treatments used to treat kidney and other organ injuries and transplants, is about to launch a Covid-19 clinical trial.
Nova Park LLC the property owner, intends to lease a portion of the 108,000 s/f building to ChemRX when Lab Corp. moves out.
Angion and Nova Park received IDA benefits in 2011 and are seeking new benefits for the $3.9 million renovation of the facility that will include HVAC units and a new roof for the building.
There are currently 245 employees in the Uniondale building, where JOVIA (formerly NEFCU), also has offices. Another 10 full-time positions are to be created after the project is completed.
