Architectural surface restoration and maintenance company REMCO has signed a three-year contract with Durst Organization to handle metal maintenance at New York City landmark One World Trade Center.
REMCO is also providing stainless steel maintenance at the 104-story building, from now through the end of 2017.

The scope of work includes maintaining and cleaning all stainless steel elements throughout the four exterior building entrances; its 74 passenger elevators; all turn styles; the exterior posts/bollards; and the landing doors throughout the lower lobby. REMCO employees are permanently assigned to work at the site each week, with staffing increasing as the building moves toward full occupancy over the next three years.
REMCO has been working at the property in other capacities at the site since the beginning of 2013, providing restoration services for Tishman Construction in the sub-basement as a result of storm damage that occurred from Hurricane Sandy.
One World Trade Center is located on the site of the original 6 World Trade Center, just south of the former Twin Towers between Vesey and Fulton Streets. It stands 1,776 feet, making it the tallest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere. It is owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and is managed by the Durst Organization.
“We recognize REMCO as a front runner in this industry. New Yorkers and Americans at large are invested in this building, and its maintenance is of the upmost importance,” said John Mongello, director of building services for the Durst Organization.
Work began on the maintenance of the site in September 2014.
