On January 18, at the 122nd Annual REBNY Gala at the New York Hilton, we will honor Gene Boniberger with the prestigious George M. Brooker Management Executive of the Year Award. The award recognizes individuals of superior accomplishment in property management based on outstanding professionalism, civic achievement, and contributions to the real estate industry.
Gene is Senior Vice President and Director of Building Operations for Rudin Management, Inc. and oversees the day-to-day operation of its commercial and residential portfolio and the MEP/Operations aspects of its new construction projects. Â He started his career at Rudin and worked for the organization in various roles, including as a Chief Engineer, Building Manager, Operations Manager, and Vice President of Commercial Building Operations.
Gene is an innovator who is always thinking ahead. One of his signature contributions to our industry is his co-invention of the Digital Building Operation System (DiBOSS) and NANTUM – a real-time building operating system/integration platform providing business owners and operators developing sustainability strategies with a micro-suite of cloud-based applications.
Additionally, he launched the Internet of Things (IoT) startup Prescriptive Data in 2015. Gene is on the frontlines of the intersection of technology and the real estate industry.
As a member of REBNY’s Sustainability Committee, Gene helped forge our partnership withMayor de Blasio to launch the NYC Carbon Challenge for Commercial Owners and Tenants. Gene was part of the team that recruited new commercial owner and tenant participants to help identify strategies for the coordinated implementation of energy efficiency projects and the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from their buildings by 30% or more, within ten years.

Gene is a reliable leader. He serves on REBNY’s Management Division Board of Directors, as well as our Commercial and Residential Management Councils. I know I speak for all of us when I say that Gene’s insights and expertise are invaluable to us in guiding our research and thinking in these areas.
We also admire Gene for his commitment to good causes like LiveOnNY, where he is a board member. LiveOnNY, and its affiliate Donate Eight, raise funds for organ donation, providing education to the medical profession, outreach to donor families and general awareness to the public for the need (and shortage) of organ donors. Last year DonateEight raised over $1 million in a single night for LiveOnNY.
There is nobody better to help REBNY achieve its goals than Gene, and we are happy to be able to call him a trusted colleague and friend.
It is with great pride that all of us at REBNY will honor Gene with the George M. Brooker Management Executive of the Year Award.
