MRG unveils 20,000 s/f of new retail space at LaGuardia

Airport retail giant Marshall Retail Group (MRG) has unveiled a 20,000 s/f shopping experience at the new-look Terminal B at LaGuardia Airport.

Opening tomorrow (June 13) the 15,000 s/f The Bowery Bay Shops and 5,000 s/f The DEAN will offer locally-sourced artisan confections, gourmet eats, cutting edge electronics, Made in Queens gifts, local and national beauty brands and more.

Notable brands include Artists & Fleas, Brooklyn Roasting Company, Kate Spade New York, Magnolia Bakery, and Strand Book Store – an historic NYC institution carrying over 2.5 million used, new, and rare books.

“New York City is considered to be one of the world’s greatest destinations for shopping, and the new Terminal B is no exception to that,” said Stewart Steeves, chief executive officer of LaGuardia Gateway Partners. “We’re thrilled to partner with Marshall Retail Group for the exceptional retail options that they’ll offer passengers, providing them with the feeling of a true New York City shopping experience.”

LaGuardia, once dubbed the worst airport in America, is in the midst of a years-long redevelopment. The multi-phase construction plan was designed to enable the 30-million passengers-a-year airport to remain fully operational while the entire airport is rebuilt.

The Terminal B Arrivals and Departures Hall is the latest piece of the project to be completed. Two private sector partners, LaGuardia Gateway Partners, a consortium of Vantage, Skanska, and Meridian; and JLC infrastructure, an investment group of Loop Capital and Magic Johnson Enterprises, provided P3 (public-private-partnership) financing for the project.

 LaGuardia is going on its’ fourth year of construction and the airport is expected to be completed in 2022 with the  installation of air trains to cut down on emissions and consumer travel log-jams.

The new Bowery Bay Shops will connect travelers to an array of iconic brands as well as state-of-the-art immersive experiences. Featuring a large-scale digital mural wall, guests can create custom digital portraits with backdrops by renowned 5Pointz graffiti artists.

Inside Terminal B Arrivals and Departures Hall, The DEAN is hailed as a fashion-forward men’s emporium featuring products and services designed with the discerning business traveler in mind.

Wilkins, chief executive officer of Marshall Retail Group. “All aspects have been meticulously curated by our team at Marshall Retail Group to offer an unsurpassed local sense of place to travelers and locals alike.”

In addition to the massive retail spaces inside LGA, Marshall Retail Group also operates The Scoop, a modern, one-stop convenience destination offering an eclectic mix of locally made products, snacks, travel essentials and more.
