This winter, Roosevelt Islanders will be able to warm themselves with a tasty treat on the island’s main drag.
Liukoshui, a Chinese hot-pot restaurant has signed a 10-year lease for 505 s/f at 568 Main Street, making it the latest diverse food offering on the increasingly eclectic stretch of retail.
“Hailing from one of the great food capitals of China, Liukoshui is excited to bring Chongqing Hot Pot Noodles to the U.S.,” Yiliana Wu, assistant project manager at the restaurant, said. “Authentic flavors and signature dishes, such as our Spicy Chongqing Beef Noodles and Chun Chun, a traditional Sichuan Skewer, have been developed by us over many years.”
Lisa Management Inc., the property management arm of Hudson Related Companies, represented the landlord, Hudson Related Retail LLC, on the contract negotiations while Cushman & Wakefield acted on behalf of Liukoshui. A spokesman with Lisa Management declined to share the asking rent for the space.
Hot-pot is a style of preparing meat and vegetables in which the ingredients are simmered in soup stock. Patrons typically are able to add their own ingredients to the hot broth as it cooks on their dining table. Liukoshui’s particular style of hot-pot comes from a region of Central China called Chongqing.
Liukoshui joins a variety of restaurants in the “Shops on Main” corridor, including the Mexican restaurant Onda, Bubble Cool bubble tea, China One Kitchen and Nisi, a diner. T
Lisa Management, which has managed the properties since 2002, took over the leasing effort on Main Street in March. It is charged with filling all the remaining vacant space on the corridor, including 2,000 s/f at 521 Main, 2,229 s/f at 563 Main and 2,172 s/f at 544 Main.
“We are excited to add another eat-in dining establishment to the Main Street retail corridor and look forward to Liukoshui adding to the vibrancy of Roosevelt Island,” Alexandra Kaplan, project manager at the Hudson Companies, said.
