Law firm Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman LLP announced today (Wednesday) that it has signed a 20-year lease renewal at 1633 Broadway, a building owned by The Paramount Group and that has served as the firm’s headquarters location since 2000.
In signing the lease, the firm has committed to occupy approximately 225,000 s/f on the 19th through 23rd floors of the building. Currently located on floors 20-24, the firm will embark on a re-stacking process involving a complete reconstruction and technological renovation project designed by TPG Architecture, taking advantage of upgraded electrical and HVAC systems.
The technologically advanced infrastructure and space redesign will enable Kasowitz to operate more efficiently by accommodating current and future expansion in less space.
Kasowitz is represented by Howard Lorber of Douglas Elliman, and Moshe Sukenik and Mark Weiss of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank.
“We are grateful to Douglas Elliman, Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, TPG and Paramount for helping us to design a customized work space solution that takes into account uniformity and controllability,” said Adam Endick, a partner with the firm’s real estate group, who worked closely with the brokerage team and landlord on the redesign. “They did an impressive job of working under enormous time constraints to accommodate our unique needs.”
“It was intricate reinventing the infrastructure of a 43-year-old building in order to support the demanding needs of a cutting-edge law firm that needs to be in operation 24/7,” said Weiss. “We ultimately succeeded in creating a modern day solution for a middle-aged building.”
The lease signing comes soon after the firm opened new offices in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles.
Prominent tenants at 1633 Broadway include Deloitte, Alliance Global Investors, Dickstein Shapiro LLP, and Davis Wright Tremaine LLP. Paramount Group completed lobby renovations in 2012.
