Intercontinental New York Barclay Appoints Matthias Kaiser as Hotel Manager

InterContinental New York Barclay is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthias Kaiser as hotel manager. An existing member of the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts’ family, Kaiser brings two decades of luxury hotel leadership experience to his new role. He will oversee day-to-day operations across all facets of the iconic New York City property, including guestrooms, food and beverage programs at The Parlour and in-room dining, as well as support of hotel associates.

As InterContinental New York Barclay continues to see strong bookings through 2022, Kaiser will be essential in the strategic cross-functional planning of InterContinental New York Barclay, maintaining its stature as a leading New York City hotel. He will also implement new programs and structures that enhance the overall guest experience throughout the property and The Parlour.

“Matthias’ experience in markets like Europe, the Middle East, and Asia make him the perfect addition to our team, especially as international travel makes a return,” says Sofia Vandaele, general manager of InterContinental New York Barclay. “His ability to connect with domestic and international guests and anticipate their needs will continue to cement the hotel’s reputation for providing the utmost in service for all travelers.”

Kaiser developed a passion for hospitality at a young age, fortunate to have been raised into a hotelier’s family. He worked his way up in the industry and served in various roles at hotels around the world. Most recently, Kaiser served as executive assistant manager at InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown. He was responsible for hotel-wide training, that resulted in overall improved key scores for the property’s room cleanliness and guest services. Kaiser has also served roles at The Venetian Hotel Resort Casino in Las Vegas, NV, The Venetian Hotel Resort Casino Macau, S.A.R, China, and at Al Faisaliah, A Rosewood Hotel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Originally from Germany, Kaiser has a Master’s in Business Administration from HTMi Hotel and Tourism Management Institute, Switzerland.
