Innovative Urby Residential Brand Launches Newest Location of Downtown Newark Next to Rutgers

Urby has officially kicked off leasing at its newest location of Downtown Newark, immediately adjacent to Rutgers. Prospective residents can now schedule private tours of Urby’s bright and airy studio-to-three-bedroom apartments and unique social spaces. Monthly rents start at $2035, with immediate occupancy available.

Located at 155 Washington Street, Newark Urby features 250 brand new apartments. Urby and LMXD, which teamed up to develop the new mixed-use community, restored and modernized a historic 18-story Art Deco tower, preserving original design elements to create residences that blend 1920’s-era architectural charm with contemporary finishes and functionality.

Designed by Amsterdam-based architect Concrete, Newark Urby features imaginative interior design and a strong focus on events and resident experience; hallmarks of the Urby brand.

“We are thrilled to begin leasing at Newark Urby which will be a fantastic residential
complement to the thriving, cultural hub of Newark,” said David Barry, Founder and CEO of Urby. “We look forward to connecting with the city’s energy and spirit while contributing
thoughtful design and engaging experiences to our residents.”

“Newark Urby offers an unparalleled living experience, from its innovative design to high
quality finishes and top-flight amenities,” said Sam Chapin, Managing Director at LMXD.
“Located right in the heart of transit-rich Downtown Newark, residents will also have direct
access to regional rail service and the neighborhood’s lively and expanding cultural scene. We are excited to welcome residents to one of Newark’s most highly anticipated apartment

Innovative Social Spaces
Newark Urby residents will enjoy thriving amenity spaces that radiate social energy, including a lush rooftop terrace with BBQ grills, huge fitness area with yoga studio, a fully serviced resident co-working area and a private dog park. The building will also include roughly 4,000 square feet of neighborhood retail highlighted by a café, as well as a 4,000-square foot Rutgers-Newark welcome center.

Brand New, Beautifully Designed Apartments
Newark Urby offers studio-three-bedroom apartments featuring bright and airy floor plans,
closets with built-in storage, wood floors, upscale kitchen finishes and individual washer/dryer in each apartment. Large windows maximize natural light and provide panoramic views of Downtown Newark and beyond. With smart technology systems, including Latch keyless smart phone entry and Amazon package lockers, residents at Newark have high-tech conveniences at their fingertips.

Newark Urby is located centrally in the heart of Downtown Newark, across the street from
Rutgers-Newark and just blocks from light rail service and the NJ Transit Broad Street Station, and a short walk from Newark Penn Station–with access to Amtrak, PATH and NJ Transit rail. It is also just a few blocks away from both Military Park and Washington Park.
