Manhattan developer Gary Vinbaytel is looking to build a 14-story residential building at 128 West 26th Street in Chelsea.
According to a permit application filed with the Department of Buildings, Vinbaytel plans to construct a 26,543 s/f property with just 13 apartment units. The proposed structure would have 22,449 s/f of residential space and 2,047 s/f of commercial space. If approved as planned, the building would be 148 feet tall.
Plans for the property call for full-floor apartments between the second floor and the 14th floor. It would also have retail space and storage units for residents on the ground floor.
Vinbaytel acquired the building last month for $10.1 million, according to a previous report from the Real Deal. His Manhattan portfolio includes a mixed-use building at 192 Eighth Avenue.
The site used to contain a five-story commercial building that was damaged due to construction at nearby 132 West 26th Street. A demolition permit for the site was filed last month.
