E-J Electric subcontracted for LIRR job

E-J Electric Installation Co. (EJ-Electric) has been awarded a subcontract for the systems, electrical and transmission line work for the $1.9 billion design-build commuter rail expansion of the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR).

The project adds a new 9.8-mile third track and critical capacity for LIRR’s heavily used main tracks.
The track, from Floral Park to Hicksville, is one of the busiest commuter rail lines in North America, transporting over 300,000 passengers daily.

The initiative also includes expansion of eight existing LIRR bridges over local streets, improvements to six stations and the elimination of seven street-level grade crossing.

E-J Electric is providing upgraded signal, traction power and communication systems.
