Digital magʼmakes move to MetroTech Center

Brookfield Properties announced that Slate has signed a seven year, 23,000 s/f lease at 15 MetroTech Center.

The media company and podcast network will occupy offices on the eighth floor at the 19-story building.

The mag joins Magellan Health, Think! Architecture and Design, Uniworld Group, Stratasys, and JPMorgan Chase at the building.

Additionally, MetroTech is home to the NYU Tandon School of Engineering.

Alireza Esmaeilzadeh, Senior Vice President of Asset Management and Leasing at Brookfield Properties, commented, “We are thrilled Slate has decided to commit to MetroTech, and the best is yet to come. With the campus’ acquisition by Brookfield, it is being repositioned and activated with new amenities, cultural programming through the award-winning Arts Brookfield program, and so much more.”

Part of the Brookfield Properties portfolio following the acquisition of Forest City Realty in 2018, MetroTech’s entire complex totals 5.5 million square feet, featuring street-level retail space and the three-acre greenspace MetroTech Commons.

MetroTech Commons is being repositioned and activated with year-round activities for tenants and the community. Programming includes outdoor yoga classes, movie nights, concerts curated by BAM, and the popular Brooklyn Brews – a celebration of the local community featuring Brooklyn breweries, music, lawn games, and more.

Earlier this month, Brookfield announced The Rink At MetroTech Commons, Downtown Brooklyn’s first outdoor ice-skating rink.

Additionally, the City of New York signed a 138,000 s/f lease at 12 MetroTech Center last month.

Brookfield Properties was represented in-house by Jesse Cooperman, Alex Liscio, and Ross Hoddeson. Slate was represented by Shannon Rzeznikiewicz and Justin Haber at JLL.
