The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation announced the signing of a 10-year lease with Bednark Studio, a commercial design and manufacturing firm specializing in building live event and retail experiences for the world’s top consumer brands.
Bednark will occupy 62,000 s/f of production and flex space in the Navy Yard’s Building 28 — a component of the newly-renovated Green Manufacturing Center (GMC) — starting July 1, 2019.
The space will serve as the firm’s new manufacturing and operations headquarters and will add to the growing mix of creative manufacturing tenants at the Yard.
Currently based in Bushwick, Bednark Studio will more than triple its production footprint while creating 65 new jobs with its move to the Navy Yard.
With this lease signing, the Green Manufacturing Center is now fully leased following a major renovation completed in 2015.
“We are thrilled to welcome Bednark to the Brooklyn Navy Yard as they look to grow their business and create quality, accessible, middle-class jobs right here in Brooklyn,” said David Ehrenberg, President and CEO of the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation.

“Bednark is the latest example of the Brooklyn Navy Yard attracting cutting edge manufacturing companies looking to expand in New York City.”
“We’ve been committed to Brooklyn since our inception, moving from Gowanus to Bushwick as we’ve grown. For our latest expansion, we saw obvious potential with the Navy Yard. They’ve shown impressive growth and it checks key boxes for us – the location, the amenities and we see added potential in their new innovative tenants over the past few years,” said Michael Bednark, Founder and CEO of Bednark Studio.
“When we had the opportunity to move our headquarters there, it just clicked. A lot of New York shops have to move to New Jersey or Long Island to get the space they need, but we felt it was important to remain Brooklyn. It’s a dream opportunity, the Navy Yard — to be able to expand our team, increase our output and broaden our capabilities — all under one roof and in the heart of the New York City and all its talent.”
Founded in 2007 and having experienced rapid growth since, Bednark Studio specializes in designing and manufacturing retail displays, immersive commercial experiences, custom vehicles, and high-end interior millwork for homes and offices. Its client list includes brands like Nike, Google, and Ralph Lauren.
Building 28 is one of four buildings comprising the Green Manufacturing Center, all 216,000 s/f of which is leased to tenants including New Lab, Crye Precision, and Brooklyn Coffee Roasters.
