The William Kaufman Organization (WKO) announced that it has retained CBRE as co-leasing agent with Sage Realty Corporation to market 3,122 s/f of retail space at 2 Gansevoort Street, a nine-story, landmarked office property in the Meatpacking District.
CBRE’s Senior Vice President Matthew Chmielecki and Vice President Preston Cannon will work alongside Sage Realty Corporation Vice President and Director of Leasing Michael Lenchner to assist in its effort to identify, market and lease the retail space to a prospective retail tenant.
The available retail space is located on the Horatio Street side of the building. Situated just steps from the new Whitney Museum and the High Line, it features 29 feet of frontage on Horatio Street, 16-foot ceiling heights and excellent visibility from the street level. Ideal tenants include specialty food retailers, health/fitness brands or an art gallery.
According to Lenchner, “The area around 2 Gansevoort Street is dotted with a number of luxury retailers, trendy restaurants and art galleries.
“This area has experienced incredible growth over the years, due to the increase in tourist traffic and new residential housing. We believe it would be an ideal fit for a retailer looking for a unique, highly-visible space in the Meatpacking District.” Chmielecki added, “Surrounded by a perfect mix of office, hotel and residential density, 2 Gansevoort is an exciting opportunity for a brand to stake their claim in one of the most sought after markets in Manhattan.”
Built in 1912 and originally designed as a warehouse and trade school, the 210,000 s/f property at 2 Gansevoort Street was acquired by WKO in 1948.
The new retail leasing campaign follows WKO’s unveiling of its newly-redesigned lobby space in the building called the Gallery at 2 Gansevoort, featuring a publicly-accessible, large-scale gallery, which includes floor-to-ceiling illuminated LED art portals.
The property is also home to Sage Realty’s flexible office concept, Swivel, which offers a variety of high-end office suites with communal amenities and flexible lease terms.
