Carter’s, the largest branded marketer in the United States of baby-wear, has signed a lease for its first Flushing location, a 4,000 s/f space in Sky View Center.
The addition of Carter’s to the 700,000 s/f mall brings another national retailer to the center.
“Carter’s is a great addition to the wide array of tenants at Sky View Center,” said Michael Dana, president of Onex Real Estate Partners, owner/developer of Sky View Center.
“We are focused on meeting today’s shopper demand by creating a merchandise mix in our center that offers brand names at a value oriented price. Carter’s is a great fit.”
Specializing in apparel for babies and young children, Carter’s owns the largest share of the $22 billion baby and young children’s apparel market in the US.
“This will be our second Queens store and is a good step for the company in further expanding its presence in New York City,” said Sean McHugh, vice president of Investor Relations at Carter’s.
“Sky View Center is a shopping destination with strong, relevant retailers, solid foot traffic and a prime location.”
Carter’s will join retailers such as Target, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Marshall’s, Old Navy, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Bob’s Discount Furniture, Chuck E. Cheese’s and the specialty Asian supermarket Sky Foods.
The store is currently expected to open in spring 2013.
