A California candy favorite is set to open its first Manhattan store.

Stieber’s Sweet Shoppe signed a twelve-year lease for a 1,725 s/f retail space at 196 Bleecker Street. The former deli space was on the market for the first time in over 30 years. The landlord was represented by Bill Abramson and Elba Diaz at Buchbinder & Warren., who noted that the asking rent was $12,000 a month. James Famularo and Ravi Idnani of NYCRS represented Stieber in the deal for its second location after its original shop in Roseville California.
“Bleecker Street is the perfect mix of locals and tourists, and there’s NYU. It’s also such a quaint walking street,” said Lee Manne, the new store’s manager.
Stieber’s is a prototypical family business – the California store was founded by Manne’s aunt, uncle and cousin. “From the moment they opened, they thought: ‘What if we looked for a second store in Manhattan?’ˮ said Manne. Stieber’s, which prides itself in its large selection of bulk candy, plans to begin construction in November and open the store in late February or early March.
