NYCREW Network, the New York chapter of the Commercial Real Estate Women Network (CREW), will honor the achievements of its most accomplished members — and its own 10th anniversary — with the Vanguard Awards, a special ceremony to be held in conjunction with its holiday celebration at the Columbus Townhouse, 8 East 69th Street, on Tuesday, November 29, from 6:30 p.m.
The evening will begin with cocktails, followed by a dinner and the presentation of the awards at 8 p.m.
Created specifically for this anniversary event, the Vanguard Awards will honor those individuals who have achieved pioneering success in helping to advance women in the real estate industry, according to Karen Dome of Marcus & Millichap, and 2011-12 NYCREW President and Chairman of the Board.
“NYCREW has always celebrated the achievements of its members; it’s one of the reasons we exist,” Dome said. “But we wanted to do something truly special for our 10th anniversary, and so created these awards unique to this year to honor a broader body of work and commitment. What makes them even more significant is that they will come from our fellow members, who will have nominated each of the recipients for her award.”
The awards recognize various types of professional and personal success and leadership:
The Pioneer Spirit Award recognizes outstanding accomplishments by a NYCREW member striving for the highest degree of excellence, integrity and responsibility in her respective field. It recognizes the individual whose accomplishments have helped to open new possibilities for expanding the role of women in the real estate industry.
The Avant-Garde Award showcases a NYCREW member’s individual excellence in business as demonstrated by outstanding initiative, impact of work, and inspiration of others. With this award, NYCREW affirms present achievements, seeks to encourage further work on the part of the recipient, and hopes to motivate others to follow her lead.
The Pinnacle Award recognizes a member who has contributed substantially to define the standards for real estate practice. This person has demonstrated excellence in her field of business in the recent past, and has demonstrated leadership and positively impacted the industry and her NYCREW peers.
The Leadership Award is given to a professional who excels both in business and in personal contributions to her NYCREW colleagues. It recognizes a person, who sets the example for all of us in her commitment to development and encouragement of women’s involvement and advancement in all aspects of the real estate industry.
Lastly, the Visionary Award will honor a founding member who has demonstrated ten years of unwavering commitment and dedication to the NYCREW community.
The awards will be the highlight of an elegant celebration co-chaired by Faith Hope Consolo of Prudential Douglas Elliman’s Retail Group, and NYCREW 2011 board member/director of communications, and Christine Chipurnoi of Wells Fargo Insurance Services of New York, and NYCREW 2011 board member/secretary.
Also serving on the 10th Anniversary planning committee are Leila F. Larijani of UBS Financial Services, Kennetha A. Pettus of Unified New Cassel Community Revitalization Corp., and several of NYCREW’s long-term members.
Serving on the sponsorship committee are Stephanie Cuba of CC Strategies LLC, Theresa A. Garelli, Esq. of Horizon Land Services, LLC, and Laura Walker of Citibank.
