Realtors talk tactics at annual summit

A host of real estate’s most influential thought leaders came together to share strategies for succeeding in the global marketplace as part of the Global Real Estate Summit NYC at the New York Marriott Marquis.

The day-long event, now in its 13th year, focused on “Engaging the Global Future” and was presented by the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors (HGAR), Staten Island Board of Realtors (SIBOR); Long Island Board of Realtors (LIBOR); Greater Bergen Association of Realtors (GBAR); and Brooklyn Board of Realtors (BBOR).

“International real estate buyers and investors enhance brokerages and profitability, boost markets and expand the economy,” said Vince Rocco, associate real estate broker, Halstead. “Relationships are key to developing an international presence. Although mobile devices, social media and other technological advances enhance connectivity, it has changed the dynamic of communication. Relationships remain crucial for all business endeavors, particularly when it comes to global real estate.”

Richard Haggerty, CEO of HGAR, reinforced the importance of market intelligence and accurate data.

“With all of the competition and market disruptions, our colleagues shouldn’t be bogged down in process and be worrying about disparate data,” said Haggerty, who is also president of OneKey MLS, the newly launched regional multiple listing service for the New York metro area.

“This is New York City – the real estate mecca of the world. We must ensure our colleagues have the tools to not just stay on top of the global trends, but get ahead of them.”
