WHO’S NEWS:

Colliers International Group Inc. announced that Tom Citron has joined the New York City office as an Executive Managing Director in the firm’s retail practice group.

He joins from Newmark Knight Frank where he held the same position.

Over the course of his career, Citron has represented a number of industry-leading tenants including Capital One Bank, Citibank N.A., Dunkin’ Brands, Flywheel, Swatch Group and Doğuş International, among others.

He has completed a number of landlord transactions for some of the nation’s most recognizable institutional owners including Nuveen (formerly TIAA-CREF), Jamestown Properties, Alchemy Properties, and Fisher Development Associates.

Citron previously represented H&M and was responsible for the company’s three flagship transactions in Manhattan. He also recently completed an office relocation for BTIG. The financial services firm expanded to 65,000 square feet in Park Avenue Tower for 15 years.

Industrious, the flexible workspace, announced the appointment of Michael Echenberg as Chief Financial Officer, effective September 3, 2019.

Echenberg will be responsible for leading financial strategy across the organization, developing and implementing strategic business plans and operating initiatives, and overseeing the entire Finance department including FP&A and accounting.

Most recently, Eichenberg served as Chief Financial Officer of Care.com during a period in which the company achieved profitability and sustained profitable growth for multiple years.

He previously served as Chief Strategy Officer at WW, formerly Weight Watchers International, after being at management consulting firm McKinsey & Company.

Avison Young announced the hiring of John Sikaitis, Nick Guglietta and Carl Caputo to lead the firm’s global innovation practice.

Sikaitis becomes a principal of Avison Young and chief innovation officer; Guglietta becomes Global Practice Lead, Product Development; and Caputo becomes Global Practice Lead, Data Science. They will be based in Washington, DC.

All three join Avison Young from JLL in Washington, where Sikaitis was managing director of research, advisory and business development; Guglietta was senior director of product, data visualization and analytics; and Caputo was director of research, data and analytics.

John Sikaitis brings 17 years of commercial real estate experience to Avison Young. He will sit on the firm’s global executive committee and help guide the company’s overall aggressive growth strategy and strategic direction.

During his 15-year tenure at JLL, Sikaitis fuelled the firm’s research platform from its Washington, DC research model, growing headcount by more than 10 times and rolling out a go-to-market model in Washington, DC that doubled win rates across every major business line in the past four years.

He is an associate board member with the Georgetown University Steers Center for Global Real Estate and sits on the executive committee of the board of the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish with minors in Portuguese and business from Georgetown University.

Nick Guglietta brings to Avison Young five years of commercial real estate industry experience with JLL in Washington, DC.

Altogether, he has 11 years of professional experience developing software solutions for the real estate and financial services industries.

Prior to joining JLL, Guglietta worked as a project manager at SNL Financial, part of S&P Global Market Intelligence, where he developed custom banking intelligence software and expanded financial-institution product lines internationally.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in systems engineering from the University of Virginia. 

Carl Caputo brings six years of commercial real estate experience to Avison Young, all with JLL in Washington, DC, where he helped build, expand and differentiate the local research platform.

Caputo and team were instrumental in growing the region’s advisory practice for institutional investors, helping to double the revenue of that platform each year he was involved with it.

Prior to joining JLL, he worked in equity research at KBW and in consulting at PwC, both in New York City.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Middlebury College, where he was a member of the men’s basketball team.

The NYC Housing Partnership has appointed Crystal Kay as General Counsel.

Kay previously served as senior staff attorney in the Community & Economic Development Program of Brooklyn Legal Services Corporation A, where she represented nonprofit developers in large-scale affordable housing real estate transactions.

Previously, she served as an associate in Robinson & Cole LLP’s Real Estate and Development practice, representing institutional lenders in complex affordable housing financing transactions, tax-exempt bond financing, and low-income housing tax credit projects.

Earlier, she worked as an associate in the Banking and Commercial Real Estate Lending practice of Cullen and Dykman LLP.

Kay received her J.D. from Rutgers Law School and earned her undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University.

HKS Real Estate Advisors announced the following new hires:

Dean Katz joined the firm as a full-time analyst. Katz initially joined HKS as an intern in 2018 and was subsequently hired upon successful completion of the firm’s rigorous internship program.

Katz also interned at Newmark Knight Frank in the firm’s Miami office where he learned commercial real estate fundamentals from a team of seasoned tenant representatives.

He graduated from Tulane University’s A.B Freeman School of Business in May 2019 with a major in business management and specializations in marketing and entrepreneurship.

Arthur Safdeye has also joined HKS Real Estate Advisors as an underwriting analyst, assisting in the financial evaluation and modeling of deal structures throughout multiple asset classes.

Prior to joining HKS, Safdeye previously completed internships as an underwriting analyst at Dwight Capital and at Thor Equities as a leasing analyst.

He graduated from the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College with a major in finance.

Polsinelli announced that Gabriel Levinson has joined the firm in New York as a Shareholder in the firm’s Commercial Litigation practice.

Levinson litigates both complex and general commercial business disputes in state and federal jurisdictions across the United States.

He has successfully challenged and defeated adversaries, as well as secured jury and non-jury verdicts, in the areas of corporate, entertainment, real estate, contractual, insurance recovery, and business tort claims.

Levinson has represented national and international companies, global retailers, boards and majority shareholders of corporations, co-op and condominium boards, world-renowned vineyards, as well as commercial and residential real estate owners, operators, and developers.

A certified fraud examiner, Levinson began his legal career with Ganfer & Shore, LLP. He was also a litigation partner with Tarter Krinsky & Drongin LLP and Blank Rome.

Levinson earned his bachelor’s degree from Vassar College and his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.

Savills announced that it has expanded its portfolio of services and solutions to include a specialization exclusively focused on delivering timely cashflow for clients’ surplus real estate primarily through leasing, sales and sale-leasebacks.

The firm has hired dispositions expert and industry veteran Gerard J. Staudt as a senior managing director and head of Dispositions, North America.

Staudt has led 4,000 transactions, totaling 50 million square feet and exceeding $8 billion in transaction value.

Prior to Savills, he served as president of CoreDispo (Corporate Real Estate Dispositions, Inc.) where his team was focused on surplus real estate disposition transactions.

Before that, he founded and led global dispositions at Johnson Controls’ GWS/CBRE, served as vice president of Asset Management at Citibank Real Estate, assistant vice president at Nippon Life Insurance Properties and director of Leasing at First Winthrop Properties where he repositioned, leased and sold real estate.

He began his career as a leasing broker at Cross & Brown in Manhattan.

Staudt holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Saint Michael’s College.

Kaplan, Kaplan & DiTrapani, LLP announced that Jason Lo has joined the firm as an Associate.

Lo is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist with experience in the real estate, consumer lending, general corporate, fintech, securities and capital markets in the U.S. and China.

Before joining the firm, Lo was an Associate at Huang & Associates, P.C. in New York and assisted attorneys in representing banks, as well as buyers and sellers of residential and commercial real property.

Prior to that, he was a Legal Specialist Consultant with Prime Clerk in New York, where he participated in bankruptcy cases.

Lo is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and is licensed to practice law in Taiwan.

He began his legal career practicing law with LCS & Partners in Taipei, Taiwan, where he handled a variety of complex matters regarding mergers and acquisitions of banks, international investment and arbitration.

After three years, Lo served as a Legal Consultant to the Commissioner of the Financial Supervisory Commission in New Taipei City, Taiwan.

He worked on such issues as financial consumer protection, electronic payments and bankruptcy law.

Lo earned his Master of Laws degree from Boston University School of Law and a Juris Doctor degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School.

CBRE announced that Jim Dobleske has joined the company as Global President of Project Management.

Dobleske will be responsible for driving CBRE’s growth strategy for Project Management and working with the company’s 7,200 project management professionals around the world.

He joins CBRE from JLL, where he held leadership positions of increasing responsibility for approximately 17 years.

Most recently, he served as Global Head of Enterprise Sales for JLL’s Corporate Solutions business, and earlier was International Director of Project and Development Services, with oversight of project management strategy and delivery globally.

Prior to JLL, he worked in project management at Ford Motor Company for 11 years.

Dobleske received an MBA from the University of North Texas and a BA from Grand Valley State University.

With Dobleske joining CBRE, Curt Grantham, who has been serving as Global President of Project Management, will focus exclusively on leading the company’s Project Management business in the Americas.

OC Development Management (OCDM) has appointed John Hunt as General Counsel.

Hunt brings more than 20 years of experience in the design and construction industry to the company.

In his new role, he will provide all legal support for OCDM and provide guidance and counsel on the firm’s projects and transactions.

Prior to OCDM, Hunt has held in-house positions at Brookfield Properties, where he was Senior Vice President and Counsel, and Forest City Ratner Companies, where he was Senior Vice President and Director of Construction Legal Services and Risk Management.

In his nearly 15 years in these roles, Huntfacilitated more than three billion dollars in design and construction transactions on notable residential, office, retail, infrastructure, and sports and entertainment projects, including Barclays Center, the Tata Innovation Center at Cornell Tech, New York by Gehry and the Vanderbilt Rail Yard reconstruction at Pacific Park Brooklyn.

Hunt holds a J.D. from Boston College Law School and a B.A. from Binghamton University.
