Hearst Tower, 280 Park earn International TOBY awards

Two New York City buildings have won the prestigious Building Owners & Managers Association (BOMA )International TOBY Award at the BOMA International Conference & Expo in Salt Lake City, UT.

To win an International TOBY (The Office Building of the Year) Award, a property first must win local and regional competitions.

Recognizing quality in properties around the globe and rewarding excellence in building management, 17 awards were presented at the conclusion of the annual conference.

HEARST TOWER

The Hearst Tower won Best Corporate Facility. Owned by the Hearst Corporation and managed by Tishman Speyer. Hearst Tower won the 2011 BOMA International TOBY award in this category and is now a two-time recipient.

280 Park Avenue won Best Renovated Building. Owned by Vornado Realty Trust and SL Green and managed by CBRE, the property is also is a BOMA 360 Performance Program building.

Hani J. Salama, chairman and CEO of BOMA New York, said, “Congratulations to the owner and management teams of The Hearst Tower and 280 Park on winning their respective TOBY Awards. They, together with the other TOBY winners, lead the commercial real estate industry with excellence.”

Local BOMA leadership was further exemplified by the recognition of James R. Kleeman, Deputy Director at Port Authority of NY & NJ, together with two other executives named BOMA Fellow in 2019.

“The three individuals honored as BOMA Fellows this year have proven many times over they are exceptional leaders deeply committed to the commercial real estate industry,” remarked BOMA International Chair Brian Cappelli.

During the TOBY ceremony, Shanghai Tower was honored with the inaugural BOMA International Global Innovation Award. T his award recognizes properties that represent significant advancements within the commercial real estate industry.

Shanghai Tower was celebrated for its iconic place in the world of commercial real estate and its role as a global leader in the industry.
