WHO’S NEWS: HFF hires new debt director, RXR promotes new EVP

Holliday Fenoglio Fowler (HFF) has hired Bob Tonnessen as a director focused on debt and equity placement transactions in its New York office.
Tonnessen joins HFF from Newmark Knight Frank where he was a director in their capital markets group and helped execute and underwrite $10+ billion in financings in 2018.
He has a range of experience in the industry financing all asset classes across the country and has held positions at LoanCore Capital and GE Capital Real Estate.
Tonnessen graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance and Marketing from Rochester Institute of Technology where he garnered Academic All-American honors in Lacrosse.

Avison Young New York City Operations announced that David Krasnoff has been promoted to Executive Director of the New York Capital Markets Group.
Krasnoff, who joined Avison Young New York in 2013, is responsible for the origination and execution of debt and equity financings for institutional and high net worth investors for the firm.
He has over 15 years of commercial real estate experience and has executed transactions valued at over $4.0 billion throughout his career.
Krasnoff is a member of Avison Young’s Circle of Excellence – $1 Million Dollar Club and has been the recipient of numerous industry awards. 
Before joining Avison Young, he sourced and executed deals for Jones Lang LaSalle’s Real Estate Investment Banking Group in New York City. Krasnoff received his M.S. in Real Estate Finance from New York University and his B.A. from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

JLL has expanded its Project and Development Services group with the addition of Michael A. Passaro, RA as senior vice president and PDS healthcare practice lead for the Northeast.
Based in New York City, Passaro will oversee a team of professionals currently managing $420 million of healthcare construction projects across the Northeast. He reports to Michael Chionchio, managing director and head of JLL PDS in New York.
With experience managing projects of up to $2.6 billion, Passaro has held senior leadership roles in construction, project management, space management and facilities at New York University School of Medicine, New York Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and Turner Construction.
Passaro has a Bachelor of Architecture from New Jersey Institute of Technology and is a Registered Architect in the state of New Jersey.

iStar Inc. announced the appointment of Douglas Heitner as Chief Legal Officer and the retirement of Vice Chairman and Chief Legal Officer, Nina Matis.
Heitner joins the iStar executive team effective March 11, 2019 and Matis will remain on the executive team as Vice Chairman until July to oversee a smooth transition.
Heitner will report to Jay Sugarman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
Prior to joining iStar, Heitner was a partner in Kasowitz Benson Torres’ Real Estate Transactions group. Before this, he was an associate in Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP’s real estate group.
He received his J.D. from New York University School of Law and a B.A. from Dartmouth College.

Jennifer Recine, a trial litigator who has handled complex real estate cases and other high-profile matters across industries, has joined Stroock’s New York office as a partner.
Recine is the 11th lateral partner to join Stroock within the past year and the second in three weeks – commercial real estate lawyer Elsa Ben Shimon came to the firm on February 13.
Recine regularly leads high-stakes litigation in practice areas as varied as civil RICO, securities, environmental and land use, trusts and estates, and criminal enforcement.

UBS Asset Management announced the appointment of Joseph Azelby as Head of its Real Estate & Private Markets business.
Azelby will lead REPM’s USD 100bn global investment platform which operates out of 14 countries and with over 550 employees worldwide.
He will be based in New York and report to Ulrich Koerner, President of UBS Asset Management and UBS Group EMEA.
As CEO of JP Morgan’s Global Real Assets business for 18 years, Azelby built a platform spanning private and public real estate, infrastructure and maritime investments across the US, Europe and Asia Pacific.
Most recently, he was a Senior Partner and Head of Real Assets at Apollo Global Management.
Azelby succeeds Thomas Wels who has been appointed divisional Vice Chairman for UBS Asset Management.

Westbridge Realty Group announced the hiring of Jonathan Bichoupan as a broker specializing in the sale of multifamily, mixed-use and development assets throughout the five boroughs.
Bichoupan previously worked as a broker at the Highcap Group from 2015-2018 where he facilitated the sale of over 300 units in the Bronx.
Prior to Highcap he worked KBM Worldwide, a company which provides financing for small-cap publicly traded companies, as well as large private businesses.
Bichoupan graduated from CUNY Queens College with a bachelor’s degree in political science.

Admiral Capital Group announced that K.C. Nelson has joined the investment management firm as a principal.
He will primarily be responsible for capital markets relationships, research, developing new products and managing impact initiatives.
Nelson joins the firm from Driehaus Capital Management, where he was lead portfolio manager for several billion dollars of assets invested in various alternative strategies.
Upon joining Driehaus in 2009, Nelson served as the lead portfolio manager for the Driehaus Active Income Fund. He later served as the lead portfolio manager on two other alternative funds. Additionally, Nelson served on the firm’s management committee.
Prior to Driehaus, Nelson worked at Lotsoff Capital Management where he served as the lead portfolio manager for a multi-strategy credit mutual fund and hedge fund.
He graduated from Vanderbilt University with an honors degree in economics and obtained an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, where he was a Keller Scholar.

Madison International Realty announced that Matthias Cordier and Alex Lukesch have both been promoted to Managing Director.
Matthias Cordier has been with Madison for nearly eight years, first in Madison’s New York office and now based in Frankfurt.
He has primary responsibility for the sourcing, underwriting and execution of Madison’s equity transactions including all aspects of financial analysis, property due diligence and transaction structuring with a focus on Germany and Western Europe.
Prior to joining Madison in 2011, Cordier spent over four years with the European Commercial Real Estate Group of Deutsche Bank.
Alex Lukesch has been with Madison for 11 years. He was originally hired in Madison’s New York office in 2008 and transferred to head the London office in 2013.
He has primary responsibilities for the sourcing, underwriting and execution of Madison’s equity transactions, including all aspects of financial analysis, property due diligence and transaction structuring with a focus on the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Prior to joining Madison in 2008, Lukesch was a Portfolio Analyst at Lincoln Property Company.

James J. Houlihan and James K. Coleman announced that Michael Cuniberti has become a partner of Houlihan-Parnes Properties.
Cunibert is a Licensed Real Estate Broker and an EIT certified mechanical engineer from Tulane University. He joined the firm in June, 2000.
As the current Managing Director of HPP, he oversees the operation and renovations of HPP’s properties throughout Westchester County, New York City, and the tri-state area.
He oversees a group of asset managers, brokers, and staff that operate a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate, including multiple co-op and condo buildings, 1,500-plus residential rental units, and over 225,000 s/f of commercial/retail space.
His construction experience includes the management and design of both individual apartment renovations and large-scale projects.

Newmark Knight Frank (NKF) announced the addition of industry expert Paul Klink as North American Industrial leader.
Klink, a 33-year industry veteran with a focus on developing and cultivating institutional relationships, will join NKF as Executive Vice President – Head of Industrial Services.
Klink will guide the direction and expansion of NKF’s industrial capabilities across North America with a priority of recruiting top industrial-focused leasing and capital markets talent and expanding client relationships across the sector.
Klink has extensive experience across brokerage, development, asset and property management, with roots in office and industrial product.
Joining NKF from Cushman & Wakefield, his previous role was as Executive Managing Director of Investor Services.
Klink will be based in the company’s Orange County office. His prior work experience also includes Cassidy Turley, Interface Properties, Koll Development Company and Grubb & Ellis, all based in California.

Rosenberg & Estis, P.C. announced that Stacey A. Lara has joined the firm as Of Counsel with its Litigation Department.
Lara represents financial services institutions in complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts, investigations and regulatory actions, with a concentration on residential and commercial real estate mortgage lending and servicing.
Prior to joining Rosenberg & Estis, she represented financial institutions, residential lenders, loan servicers, and trusts in state and federal litigation and appeals in enforcing mortgage foreclosure rights and defending claims.
She has obtained favorable rulings setting legal precedent for mortgage foreclosure litigation in New York, and is well-versed in state and federal regulations governing the lending and mortgage loan servicing industry.
Lara also has experience representing financial institutions, corporations, directors, officers and other individuals in complex commercial and securities litigation.
She graduated from New York University with a B.A. in politics, and received a J.D. from St. Johns University School of Law.

RXR Realty has named Whitney Arcaro as the company’s new Executive Vice President of Marketing and Retail Leasing.
After joining the RXR team in early 2017 as a Senior Vice President Managing Director of Marketing, Arcaro led the company through a number of strategic leasing and community-centric campaigns.
Arcaro will now oversee the retail activity across the RXR portfolio, including place-making opportunities at properties such as the Starrett-Lehigh Building and Pier 57 in Manhattan, and The Hall in Brooklyn.

Pizzarotti, LLC announced that Michael Holloway has joined the team as Chief Operating Officer in their New York City office.
A seasoned professional with over 40 years of experience, Holloway has been involved with numerous high-end projects, including projects for Chase Bank, ABC, Trump and Tishman.
Before joining Pizzarotti, he spent nearly 20 years at Lehrer McGovern, Bovis, LendLease and then went on to become the Director of Construction at Gotham Construction, Alexico Group, Plaza Construction, Madison Equities and Leeding Builders Group.
