WHO’S NEWS: B6 appoints two new directors, Flatiron hires new exec

BHI announced the appointment of Gregory Allen as National Head of Commercial Real Estate.

Allen has more than 30 years of experience sourcing, managing and growing a portfolio of real estate clients throughout the U.S. and abroad.

He will be responsible for overseeing the expansion of BHI’s CRE portfolio to a national level.
Allen was most recently employed as a Senior Vice President for HSH

Nordbank AG. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Providence College and a master’s in Business Administration from Columbia University.

Greystone announced that Field Springer has been promoted to the Credit Leadership Team, focusing on multifamily HUD-insured loans.

Springer recently completed the MBA Future Leaders 2017-2018 program, an executive leadership development opportunity for selected managers who have shown leadership interests and abilities.

He reports to Kevin Williams, who was recently named Chief Operating Officer for Greystone’s overall lending operations.

Newmark Knight Frank (NKF) has hired healthcare and seniors housing producers Ryan Maconachy, Chad Lavender, Dave Fasano, Ross Sanders and Sarah Anderson, from HFF.

Bringing over 25 years of combined experience, Lavender and Maconachy have completed over $30 billion in combined healthcare-related transactions while Fasano and Sanders more than $12 billion on behalf of some of the nation’s largest healthcare and seniors housing owners. Anderson has financed over $7 billion on behalf of some of the nation’s most active industry sponsors.

In addition to seniors housing, Maconachy and Lavender will also focus on medical office, life sciences and hospitals as well as other alternative real estate asset classes.

The team has handled numerous noteworthy transactions. the worked on the privatization of Sentio Healthcare Properties, the sale of Brookdale Battery Park and the sale and financing of The Somerby Senior Living Portfolio and Operating Platform.

Billy Procida, founder and CEO of Procida Funding & Advisors, announced that Derek Weissman, Mike Coen and Brian Foley have been promoted to vice presidents at the firm.

Combined, the trio has deployed $600 million over 100 loans and recovered collection on over $350 million. They have originated, preformed due diligence projects ranging from the $56 million renovation of the Philadelphia Metropolitan Opera House, to the Hudson Valley Brewery in Beacon, NJ.

Derek Weissman is being promoted from Head of Asset Management. He completed two internships at Procida Funding while attending the University of Colorado Boulder and also as a research analyst with Colliers International.

Mike Coen, formerly head of Due Diligence and Servicing, joined the firm in 2015 after working as an asset manager for NRT REO Experts.

He began his real estate career as an associate with Coldwell Banker. Coen earned a Master in real estate development at Nova Southeastern University and a business degree from the University of Alabama.

Brian Foley joined Procida as an analyst in 2016 directly from The Wharton School where he earned a bachelor of science in Economics, Concentrations in Finance and Real Estate. He was subsequently promoted to head of originations and new business.

Real estate attorney Robert G. Koen has joined Mintz as a Member.
Koen focuses on commercial real estate, with a concentration in real estate acquisitions, finance and complex restructurings for both lender and borrower entities. Previously, he was a lawyer in Mayer Brown’s New York real estate practice.

Koen’s experience includes the negotiation, structuring and documentation of acquisitions, dispositions and co-investment transactions.

He has substantial experience handling securitized capital markets and institutional real estate financings as well as all aspects of international investment in domestic real estate transactions.

Koen is the editor of the Real Estate Finance Journal, a Thompson Reuters publication.

B6 Real Estate Advisors announced the appointment of Stephen Dadourian as Managing Director and Shaynon Gramling as Director, Investment Sales.

Stephen Dadourian began his career in 1985 as an office leasing specialist in Midtown. In 1991, he co-founded DG Hart Associates.

During his 19 years, the company grew to become a multi-disciplined brokerage and property management firm with expertise in office and retail leasing, investment sales, bankruptcy valuation services and commercial property management.

In 2003, the company became a member of NAI and began an international corporate service practice. After NAI acquired the firm in 2006, Dadourian remained on as vice chairman until 2009. He joined B6 from Hudson Newhart, LLC.

A property owner himself, Dadourian is a former client of B6 principal Paul Massey, who sold several properties for the Dadourian family.

He received a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Cornell University in 1985.

Shaynon Gramling launched his career as a commercial real estate agent with Marcus & Millichap. He worked on one of the top producing teams, which closed over $160 million in multi-family and mixed-use sales.

Gramling began acquiring properties for himself and partnered with a group of investors to purchase real estate sourced through relationships with building owners and property managers.

Following his first acquisition, Gramling joined Vornado Realty Trust’s operations team, where he helped manage their 30 million-square-foot portfolio in Manhattan before joining Empire State Realty Trust in 2016. He managed the Empire State Building as Assistant Director of Operations.

Timothy Deegan, former VP of FHA Lending & Originations at the Community Preservation Corporation (CPC), has been promoted to VP and Head of Agency Production.

He will oversee production across CPC’s FHA, Freddie Mac, and Fannie Mae lending platforms.

.He will work with the Mortgage Company and Field teams to promote and enhance originations opportunities and will be available to meet with customers to sell CPC Mortgage Company products.

A graduate of the University of Maryland, Deegan began his career as an analyst with the Bank of America. He went on to hold positions with Clear Point Funding, Llenrock Group and Cosmopolitan Capital before joining CPC in 2017 as vice president of FHA Lending & Originations.

NAI James E. Hanson announced that David M. Ukleja has joined its Teterboro, N.J. office as an associate.

Ukleja will work closely with Anthony Cassano on retail, office and industrial leasing and sales in the Bergen County submarket.

Ukleja previously worked as a sales associate at Keller Williams Realty. He was also head bartender and beverage supervisor at Stony Hill Inn in Hackensack, NJ.

Ukleja graduated in 2017 from the American School of Business, where he earned his real estate agent license. He is also bilingual in English and Polish.

AmTrust Title Insurance Company announced the promotion of Felice K. Shapiro to General Counsel for AmTrust Title and First Nationwide Title.

With the announcement, Shapiro becomes one of the first female General Counsels of a major title insurance underwriter. In her new role, she is responsible for all underwriting decisions for both companies.

With more than 35 years of industry experience, Shapiro most recently served as EVP and chief underwriter for AmTrust Title and was responsible for overseeing all legal and underwriting decisions for the direct and agency sides of the business.

Prior to joining AmTrust Title in January 2016, she was executive director and counsel of TIRSA, a rating agency for title insurance.
She also spent more than 17 years at Old Republic Title Company where she held the role of Senior Counsel, VP.

In 1997 Shapiro was named the first female president of the New York State Land Title Association. Shapiro lectures extensively for the NYSLTA for CLE and CE credit.
She received a JD from the University of Bridgeport School of Law.

Greg Batista has been appointed an associate board member of the Commercial Industrial Brokers Society of Long Island (CIBS), the region’s largest commercial brokers organization.

Batista, a broker in the Jericho office of Ripco Real Estate LLC since 2015, was previously a vice president of Sabre Real Estate Group. He also worked with Pliskin Realty & Development and was an acquisition specialist with Ashkenazy Acquisitions Corp.

Batista is a 2005 graduate of Siena College, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and management and where he played Division I baseball.

The Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership Business Improvement District (BID) announced the appointment of James Mettham as the organization’s new Executive Director.

Mettham currently serves as Managing Director at the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership and previously held key positions with the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS), including as Assistant Commissioner and Executive Director of BID Program Management

As Executive Director, Mettham will work with property owners, retailers, restaurants, residents, community leaders, elected officials, and agency heads, to ensure Flatiron remains a global destination in which to live, work, and visit.

At the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, Mettham oversaw the operations and finances of the central business district’s local development corporation and three BIDs.

At SBS, he served as Assistant Commissioner in the agency’s Neighborhood Development Division. In his role as SBS’s Executive Director of the Business Improvement District Program, he provided oversight and support to the city’s network of BIDs and coordinated the provision of more than $120 million in annual assessment funds to them.

He holds a Master of Urban Planning degree from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and is a Brooklyn resident.

Arbor Realty Trust announced the appointment of Steven Katz as Chief Investment Officer and Executive Vice President, Residential Financing.

Katz will be responsible for growing Arbor’s presence in the residential market and will develop Arbor’s proprietary Single-Family Rental (SFR) portfolio platform.

With more than 25 years of experience in mortgage trading, banking and servicing, Katz previously served as a Managing Director for Morgan Stanley.

Prior to that, he served as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer for Seneca Mortgage. From 2008-2013, Katz served as Chief Investment Officer for Arbor Residential Mortgage.

He received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baruch College.
