\JLL announced that Jim Wenk, executive managing director, was selected as a David Rockefeller Fellow by the Partnership for New York.
He joins 30 other senior corporate executives as a member of the program’s Class of 2018 – 2019.
The Partnership for New York established the David Rockefeller Fellows Program in 1989. There are more than 400 Fellows alumni that are active throughout Manhattan. The program prepares senior corporate executives for more active leadership in civic and public affairs, following the model of the partnership’s founding chairman.
During the 12-month program, Fellows meet with leaders in the public and private sectors through a series of meetings, site visits and tours that are held two to three times per month.
Wenk joined JLL in 2008 and oversees the real estate needs of some of the most recognized global brands. He assists clients with locating, analyzing, negotiating, and structuring headquarters office lease transactions as well as managing their global real estate portfolios.
Wenk began his career in commercial real estate at
The Staubach Co., which later merged with JLL.
He received a bachelor’s degree in finance from Ithaca College and a master’s degree in business administration at Hofstra University.
Wenk has been a consistent recipient of JLL’s Top Gun Production Award. He is an active member of The Real Estate Board of New York. Wenk is also involved in supporting St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters, the Wounded Warrior Project, and the Oxalosis and Hyperoxaluria Foundation.
Silverstein Properties announced that Brian Collins will join the firm as Executive Vice President and Director of Development.
Collins has been the Head of Acquisitions and Development at Fisher Brothers since 2011. Most recently, he oversaw over $1.5 billion in development of residential properties in New York City and Washington, DC, including 701 2nd Street NE on Capitol Hill, 225 East 39th Street, 101 West 87th Street, 37 Warren Street and 111 Murray.
He is the founder of Colgate Development and, from 2004 to 2010, was also the Owner. Other previous roles include president of Intrawest, COO and partner of Millennium Partners, and senior vice president of Carol Management/Doral.
His project highlights include multiple Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons hotels as part of Millennium Partner’s mixed-use projects, The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte; Andaz 5th Avenue, New York;; and the Residences at The Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia.
Newmark Knight Frank (NKF) announced that 22-year commercial real estate professional James Brady has joined the firm as an associate director of management services.
Based in Stamford, Connecticut, Brady will be responsible for NKF’s property management operations and staff in Connecticut. He will report to Regional Director of Management Services Eric Stone.
Brady will also work with NKF’s leasing and
investment sales professionals to grow the management portfolio, cross-sell NKF’s services, build new client relationships and advise owners on strategies for maximizing efficiency and the value of their properties.
Prior to joining NKF, Brady worked with Lexham Private Investors, LLC, where he was responsible for the management and operating performance of all assets held across the firm.
Glick Property Group, the investment arm of the Glick family portfolio, announced that Steven M. Glick has joined the Company as a principal.
He is the latest principal to join the team, which includes Jason Glick, managing principal; Randy E. Glick, chairman; and David C. Parks, principal.
Glick previously served as senior vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary of Public Storage, the third largest real estate investment trust in the United States.
He has also held senior legal and business positions at Thomson/Technicolor, Paramount Pictures and Ladbrokes, then owner of Hilton International (which owned and/or operated all of the Hilton hotels outside of the United States).
In his earlier work, he was as a corporate finance lawyer for leading multinational law firm Shearman & Sterling, and was based, at different times, in its New York, Paris and London offices.
In addition, Glick is the chairman of Gipper Media, Inc., a social media marketing platform for schools.
Steven Glick’s father, Alvin Glick, was the co-founder of Mautner-Glick Corp. in 1959. Today, that firm is known as GPG Management, a full-service management company with more than 3,000 units in over 150 buildings in Manhattan.
Rockwood Capital has added two senior professionals to its Capital and Client Strategies team: Tara McCann, as Managing Director, and Injong Kim, as Director. Both will be based in Rockwood’s New York City office.
McCann will manage Rockwood’s client relations and fundraising initiatives on a global basis and will sit on the firm’s Investment Strategy Committee.
Kim will focus on client relations and fundraising in Asia.
Both be responsible for the development and execution of capital strategies and investment products for domestic and international investors.
Tara McCann has over 20 years of experience in real estate finance. Previously, she was a managing director at USAA Real Estate where she led strategy development and capital raising for the firm’s affiliate, Square Mile Capital.
Injong Kim has over 11 years of experience in real estate finance.
Prior to joining Rockwood, Kim was a senior portfolio manager for the National Pension Service of the Republic of Korea (NPS) where he focused on global real estate investments and portfolio management.
Thomas Didio, a veteran of the commercial real estate industry, has joined CBRE’s Capital Markets Debt & Structured Finance group. He will serve as Vice President.
Didio previously spent four years in an underwriting/origination role with Freddie Mac Multifamily in New York and four years with Black Bear Asset Management where he specialized in sourcing, underwriting, structuring and financing commercial real estate transactions nationally.
Didio earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Tufts University and a professional certificate in real estate finance from New York University.
Blank Rome announced that Michael Peskowitz and Lauren Scarantino have joined the Firm as Partners in the Real Estate group in the Firm’s New York office.
They focus their practice on commercial real estate lending, representing both lenders and borrowers in commercial transactions for all property types. The duo joins from Thompson & Knight LLP.
With over 30 years of experience, Michael Peskowitz has primarily represented institutional lenders in the origination of mortgage and mezzanine loans secured by commercial mortgage-backed securities.
He earned his B.A. from Colgate University, his M.A. from The New School for Social Research, and his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School.
Lauren Scarantino has significant experience in assisting with the representation of special services in connection with securitization, including the process of reviewing offering circulars, as well as preliminary and final employment agreements.
She received her B.A., with honors, from Georgetown University and her J.D., magna cum laude, from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University where she was a member of the Hofstra Law Review.
Casco Capital Management announced that Elliot Shirwo has joined the organization as a principal.
Shirwo brings more than two decades of relevant experience serving real estate, finance, legal and family office communities.
Previously, he was founder and principal of BridgeCore Capital, a private bridge lender, and held a nine-year career with Bolour Associates, a privately-owned real estate investment, development and finance company.
Before that, Shirwo was general counsel and secretary of Peerless Systems Corporation. Earlier, he was in private legal practice, specializing in real estate, insurance and intellectual property transactions and litigation.
Holliday Fenoglio Fowler has hired Mike Nieves as a director focused on M&A and corporate advisory services in the firm’s New York office.
Nieves will work with senior managing director Steve Hentschel, who heads HFF’s M&A and corporate advisory services provided by HFF’s registered broker-deal subsidiary, HFF Securities.
He joins HFF from Citigroup’s Real Estate and Lodging Investment Banking Group, where he was a vice president and worked on public REIT mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, and equity and debt capital markets transactions.
Before that, Nieves worked at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP as a corporate lawyer.
He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Virginia, a Juris Doctorate from American University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan.
Janover LLC announced the promotions of two senior managers, Mary Beth Vetter, CPA and Tammy Daitch, CPA to principals.
Mary Beth Vetter began her career at KPMG in the Audit Practice. She later then joined Schoenfeld, Mendelsohn, Goldfarb (SMG) where she worked for over 20 years. In 2013, Vetter joined Janover when SMG merged with Janover.
Vetter received her BS in Accounting from St. John’s University. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the New York State Society of CPAs.
Tammy Daitch has been with Janover for eight year. Prior to joining the firm she worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers, The Walt Disney Company, Barclays Banks, and RGP, an international consulting firm.
Daitch received her BS in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the New York State Society of CPAs.
National Realty & Development Corp. (NRDC) announced that Nick Hrvatin has been promoted to Vice President, Retail Leasing.
Hrvatin began his career with NRDC in 2014 as a Leasing Representative and has
spent the last five years managing the leasing of 15 retail centers, with approximately 2,300,000 s/f of GLA. Hrvatin has negotiated transactions with many national retail brands such as Five Below, CVS and Big Lots.
Prior to joining NRDC, he worked for three years as a commercial real estate salesperson at RM Friedland where he handled retail sales and leasing in the NY Metro area.
Hrvatin attended the University of Colorado where he received his bachelor’s degree in 2011.
The Fordham Real Estate Institute (REI) named Sal Gulino assistant director.
He will support the planning, development, implementation and administration of academic programs in real estate construction and report directly to Robert Morgenstern, director of Fordham REI.
Gulino, who joined from New York University’s Schack Institute of Real Estate, will also oversee faculty recruitment and development, curriculum development, program administration, student services and the development of industry relations.
Gulino received his bachelor’s degree in economics from NYU.
