WHO’S NEWS: Commercial appointments and promotions

Regional Plan Association announced that Scott Rechler has been elected chairman of the board of directors. Rechler succeeds Elliot G. Sander, who has served as chairman since 2010 and will continue to serve as a director.
Rechler is the chairman and chief executive of RXR Realty LLC. From 2011 until earlier this year, he served as vice chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Rechler is also a member of the Real Estate Board of New York, and is co-chair of Tribeca Film Institute and the Centre for Social Innovation

In addition to electing Rechler as chairman, RPA’s board of directors elected four new members to the board:

Mark Blumkin is managing director in the capital projects practice of Deloitte Transactions and Business Analytics LLP.

Kevin Chavers serves as managing director of BlackRock’s government relations and public policy group, chairman of the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation and a member of RPA’s New York Committee.
Seth Pinsky is executive vice president and fund manager, metro-emerging markets and public affairs director at RXR Realty. Previously, he served as director of Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Special Initiative for Rebuilding and Resiliency, and as president of the New York City Economic Development Corporation.

Robert K. Steel is partner and chief executive officer of Perella Weinberg Partners and a former deputy mayor for economic development for the City of New York under Mayor Bloomberg.

JLL hired New Jersey retail real estate expert Marta Person Villa to launch the expansion of its retail brokerage services in the Garden State.

She joins the firm as a senior vice president as part of JLL’s strategic growth plan for its New Jersey retail brokerage business.

Villa has more than 25 years of experience in New Jersey retail and specializes in landlord representation, occupier site selection, and investment property acquisition and disposition.

She has also served as a consultant to owners and associations on revitalization and development assignments in more than 25 cities across the United States.

Villa has held leadership posts as the administrator for the Borough of Red Bank and the director of downtown alliances for Newark, Red Bank, Cranford and Bloomfield. She is credited with the revitalization of Red Bank, which was named “Hip Town” by NJ Monthly magazine.

Prior to joining JLL, Villa served as a vice president with the retail services group of CBRE.
Earlier in her career, Villa served as a broker/owner of Square Foot LLC, founded in 1998, which provided commercial leasing and consulting services to owners, owners’ associations, cities and tenants throughout New Jersey.

Villa earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond.

Charter Realty & Development Corp. has welcomed William Cafero to its real estate team.
Cafero is joining as a leasing representative and will work out of the Westport office.

Cafero graduated with a Real Estate Finance degree BA from the University Of Miami Undergraduate School Of Business.

He has worked at several real estate-related internships ranging from development, private equity, brokerage, and law. Cafero has engaged in a series of markets stretching from the boroughs of New York, to Florida, as well as the greater New England area.

Additionally, Cafero has worked on big box shopping center listings as well as past representation of restaurants and retailers.

Scott Lublin, executive vice president of BankUnited, has been selected to lead the New York commercial real estate lending business for the bank effective January 1, 2017.

Lublin will replace Sam Giarrusso who will retire on that date.

Lublin first worked with Giarrusso at M&T Bank nearly 20 years ago. Lublin came to BankUnited in 2013 as a senior vice president.

He earned his bachelor’s degree at SUNY Buffalo and his MBA at Fordham University.

Avison Young announced that its Fairfield/Westchester office has hired Nicole Laskowski as a research analyst at their Norwalk, CT location.

Laskowski, a graduate of Fairfield University, was previously Communications Manager at The Marketing Advantage, a Stamford, CT-based research and marketing solutions firm.

Prior to that, she held positions at NBC Universal and Central Connecticut Coast YMCA.

In her new role at Avison Young, Laskowski will be responsible for working on a multitude of data collection and analysis projects, the production and delivery of quarterly reports for local Connecticut and Westchester office markets, and periodic Tri-State and national market research and analysis.

She will also produce research materials as a business development tool in support of broker pursuits at various levels.

Olshan Properties announced the appointment of John G. Randall to Head of Hospitality.
A 36-year veteran of the hotel industry, Randall joins the executive team at Olshan Properties reporting directly to CEO Andrea Olshan.

Randall will have comprehensive responsibility for portfolio operations and asset management related to the firm’s six hotel properties.

Randall comes to Olshan Properties from White Lodging where he served as Vice President of Operations, Full Service Division. He directed leadership teams of hotels and restaurants and management teams of approximately 240 members across Virginia, Erie, Chicago, Milwaukee, Austin, Indianapolis, Louisville and Nashville.

Prior to joining White Lodging, andall was a multiple award winner with Marriott International for 28 years fulfilling a range of leadership functions including hotel general manager and director of food and beverage service.

Randall graduated as valedictorian from Lynn University where he received an Associate of Business in Hospitality Management. Randall also attended Penn State University where he currently serves on the Hotel Board of Advisors.

Enterprise Community Partners, Inc. announced David B. Outcalt’s election to its New York Advisory Board.

Outcalt is a partner at Lexington Partners, the world’s largest independent manager of secondary private equity and co-investment funds.

He is involved in the origination, evaluation and management of equity co-investments at Lexington Partners.

He received his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Williams College and his master’s degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Outcalt started his career as an investment banking analyst at Bear Stearns and later became an associate at Landmark Partners. He joined Lexington Partners in 1994 and currently serves on the board of trustees of the University School and on the New York Regional Leadership Council of the One Love Foundation.

The Investors Bank Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Lending Group has appointed Andrew Markey to the position of Senior Vice President and Team Leader.

Markey’s key responsibility involves new business development with CRE sector companies in the New Jersey and New York metropolitan region.

His focus will be on building new and reinforcing existing relationships with top real estate developers and property owners.

Markey joins Investors from ConnectOne Bank, where he was Senior Vice President and Team Leader in the CRE Lending unit.

Earlier, Markey held senior-level CRE lending positions at Wells Fargo Bank. He began his career as a bank examiner with Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, which is an independent bureau of the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

Markey earned both a BA in Economics and an MBA in Finance from Rutgers University.

Berkeley Point Capital LLC announced the addition of Ron Steffenino as the Senior Managing Director – Servicing, Asset Management and Special Asset Management (Loss Mitigation).

In this pivotal role, he will manage a rapidly growing servicing portfolio of $53 billion, representing over 2,900 loans in 49 states.

Steffenino brings over 28 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry. Berkeley Point will leverage his extensive expertise to lead the firm’s efforts in expanding its Servicing and Asset Management platform.

Steffenino spent the last 19 years with Berkadia Commercial Mortgage, most recently as the SVP of Operations and Special Servicing/Default Management.

Previously, he held various management positions in both the residential and commercial servicing operations for Fidelity Bond & Mortgage Company.

Steffenino holds a B.S. in Operations Management and Marketing from LaSalle University.

JLL Vice Chairman Robert Martin has been named as an international director, an internal designation that elevates him to the firm’s most senior leadership level.

Martin was acknowledged for his established record of excellent client work, contributions to JLL’s growth, exceptional teamwork with colleagues, superior internal development of individuals and teams, and consistent demonstration of high ethical values and behavior.

Martin was honored earlier this year with JLL’s MVP Award, which recognized him as the firm’s top broker nationwide for 2015. This is the fourth consecutive year that Martin has ranked as one of JLL’s top five producers in the United States. The MVP Award is based on a broker’s individual annual production.

Martin has more than 30 years of experience in Manhattan commercial real estate and specializes in large, complex transactions for corporate tenants.

He also has expertise in multi-market leasing and sales transactions throughout the United States; Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region.

Martin earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Berdon LLP announced that Michael Angerhauser, CPA, CFF, CAMS, has joined as a principal in the Firm’s Litigation, Valuation & Dispute Resolution Group.

Angerhauser brings more than 30 years combined experience in accounting, forensic and fraud investigations, compliance, and law enforcement.

His experience includes providing Independent Private Sector Inspector General (IPSIG) compliance monitoring services; Anti-Bribery and Corruption due diligence, compliance and investigation services; forensic accounting; Bank Secrecy Act and Anti Money Laundering investigations and reviews.

In addition, Michael has extensive experience conducting fraud investigations as well as providing asset tracing, forensic accounting and litigation support services.

Prior to joining Berdon, Angerhauser was a Senior Director in Navigant’s Global Investigations & Compliance practice.

He also spent 20 years with the New York City Police Department, where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant-Detective Bureau/Forensic Investigation Division.
