Andrew Wiener has been named Vice President – Director of Leasing at L&L Holding Company, LLC.
In his new post, he will collaborate with L&L Executive Vice President David Berkey in overseeing all leasing activity for the firm’s New York City office portfolio, which comprises over 6.5 million square feet of rentable space. He will also continue to help underwrite potential acquisitions for the company.
Since joining L&L in 2010 as an Associate, and later being promoted to Leasing Director, Mr. Wiener has closed over 1.7 million square feet of space transactions, valued at over $400 million.
Before joining L&L, Mr. Wiener was an analyst and leasing agent in Cushman & Wakefield’s Strategic Agency Services Group, where he was responsible for implementing a leasing and tenant retention strategy for a 4 million square foot real estate portfolio.
A graduate of the University of Delaware, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, Mr. Wiener is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) and is active in many charities, including the State of Israel Bonds where from 2013 to 2014 he served as the co-chair of its new leadership division.
The New York office of Coldwell Banker Commercial (CBC) Alliance has announced that Clare Kelly has been appointed a Director for this growing national firm focused on private investors and small/mid-size businesses. In her new position at CBC Alliance, Ms. Kelly will be primarily responsible for servicing the brokerage needs of retail clients and landlords. She will also be generating new business opportunities and sourcing deals in Tribeca and other downtown Manhattan neighborhoods.
Prior to joining CBC Alliance, Ms. Kelly served in various capacities in the commercial real estate profession over the last few years, including as a director of retail leasing with Cushman & Wakefield and as a real estate conference producer with prominent industry event company GreenPearl Events.
Ms. Kelly has brokered deals in a number of New York City neighborhoods, including midtown east, lower east side, and Tribeca. She most recently served as Director of Retail leasing with Cushman & Wakefield (formerly Massey Knakal) where she was responsible for the firm’s retail leasing practice in Tribeca and the Financial District.
During her time as a conference producer with GreenPearl Events, she designed and implemented market-relevant real estate and finance events across the country, which included recruiting a number of high-level speakers and attendees for each event. Ms. Kelly is a member of ICSC, REBNY, a Board Member/Advisor of the Real Estate Weekly Women’s Forum, and a volunteer with the American Red Cross.
DLA Piper announced today that David Broderick has joined the firm’s Finance practice as a partner based in New York.
Broderick focuses on all aspects of real estate finance and the restructuring and workout of inter-creditor, co-lender and other capital markets structures. He acts as a transactional lawyer on complex debt and equity transactions, and maintains an active practice that includes all types of loan enforcement actions, bankruptcies, joint venture disputes, and lender liability issues. He has extensive involvement with defaulted mezzanine loans, Uniform Commercial Code foreclosure actions and other complex defaulted financing transactions, representing debt and equity holders at all levels of the capital structure. He is also experienced in distressed debt transactions.
Broderick joins DLA Piper from Latham & Watkins, where he was partner. He received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and his BSBA from the American University.
Holliday Fenoglio Fowler, L.P. (HFF) announced that it has expanded its capital markets teams with the hiring of Geoffrey Goldstein and Isaac Shabot in its New York office.
Mr. Goldstein joins HFF as a director responsible for debt and equity placements in the greater New York City market with a particular focus on construction lending. He was a vice president at Helaba Bank for the past eight years where he was responsible for originating and underwriting more than $1 billion of commercial real estate loans as part of four-person team. While completing his MBA in Real Estate and Finance from Columbia Business School he interned at Forest City Ratner Companies and Sonnenblick Goldman Company. Mr. Goldstein also holds an MPA in Public Finance from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and a BA from Dickinson College. He is a member of Urban Land Institute and Young Real Estate Professionals New York and also sits on the board of Arbor Brothers, Inc. (a New York City-based philanthropic foundation).
Mr. Shabot will be an associate director focused on urban retail investment sales and development primarily in Brooklyn and Queens. He brings more than 10 years of real estate experience with him to this role and most recently worked as a retail leasing associate at Ripco Real Estate while pursuing his Masters in Real Estate from Baruch College. He began his commercial real estate career at Marcus & Millichap and has held positions at Prime Capital Advisors, LLC and United Equity Investments/Faded Glory Capital. Mr. Shabot is an ICSC member and also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance degree from Baruch College.
The Hampshire Companies, a private real estate investment firm, has announced a promotion and two hires:
•John Goldsmith, Jr. was promoted to Portfolio Manager.
Goldsmith brings 14 years of investment management, capital markets, and real estate private equity experience to his new position as Portfolio Manager. He joined the Hampshire Companies in 2011 as an Asset Manager, and was subsequently promoted to Director of Acquisitions and Fund Analytics in 2013.
Prior to joining Hampshire, Goldsmith worked at Goldman Sachs & Co, Starwood Capital Group and most recently Mooring Financial Corporation, where he worked on acquiring distressed, sub-performing commercial loans and advising on a corporate restructuring and spinoff.
Goldsmith earned a bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont and holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire. Goldsmith is active in multiple industry trade organizations, including NAIOP and the International Council of Shopping Centers.
•The hiring of Karen LoBello as the company’s Director of Property Management.
LoBello will lead Hampshire’s Property Management Business Unit.
LoBello brings to the Hampshire team 14 years of experience in real estate property management at CBRE, where she most recently held the titles of Account Director and Senior Real Estate Manager. LoBello was recognized as CBRE’s Real Estate Manager of the year in 2004.
LoBello earned a bachelor‘s degree in accounting from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey (now known as Stockton University).
•The hiring of Haley Varner in the role of Portfolio Manager.
As Portfolio Manager, Varner will be responsible for maximizing the performance of the value-add oriented real estate funds by executing long-range fund and asset management strategies.
Most recently Varner was a Manager with Ernst & Young in the Transaction Real Estate Group where she served as an advisor to investors and lenders on real estate transaction and portfolio operations optimization strategies. She also held management positions at Alvarez and Marsal’s Real Estate Advisory Services and Eastdil Secured where she worked as a Financial Analyst and underwrote and marketed more than $3.2 billion of commercial assets for all major product classes.
Varner earned a B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering and a Certificate in Finance from Georgia Institute of Technology. Varner is a member of the Women’s Leadership Council for the Urban Land Institute (ULI), the New York Private Equity Network (NYPEN), the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), the Georgia Tech Alumni Association and the U.S. Equestrian Eventing Association.
MHP Real Estate Services announced three new hires:
•Brandon Richards, associate.
Prior to joining MHP, Brandon served as a real estate investments intern at Richards and Robbins Group. In that capacity, he was responsible for research, bookkeeping, as well as daily tasks involved in property management. Brandon also interned for Wells Fargo Bank where he served under the business acquisitions manager for the Tri-State area assisting in research to help the business banking portfolio grow.
Brandon graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelors Degree in Finance and Real Estate. He is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York.
•Alex Smith, Associate.Prior to joining MHP, Alex served as Sales Associate at Weichert Realtors in Short Hills, New Jersey. In that capacity, he was responsible for consulting with clients regarding their buying and selling needs, as well as providing advice on the range of services available to clients through the Weichert family of companies.
Alex graduated from Quinnipiac University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Minor in Economics.
While attending Quinnipiac University, he joined the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and spent a semester in Washington DC interning with the government relations firm Chwat & Co.
Alex is currently pursuing a Master’s in Real Estate at New York University. He is a licensed Salesperson in New Jersey and New York.
•Austin Wender, associate. He joined the Emery|Staav retail team in 2015. Prior to joining MHP, Austin served as an audio engineer at an independent music studio in New York City. He also interned at several non-profits in Washington, including the American Red Cross HQ and Springboard Enterprises. Austin is a graduate of George Washington University in Washington, DC. There he received a Bachelors of Arts in International Affairs.
Mr. Wender is a licensed New York State Real Estate Salesperson.
Winick Realty Group announced that Michael Gleicher is joining CEO Jeff Winick, President Steven E. Baker, COO Louis Eisinger and Executive Vice President Darrell Rubens as a partner in the firm and the latest addition to the company’s executive team. Now an executive vice president, Gleicher has worked at Winick Realty Group for the entirety of his real estate career, joining the firm in 2008 and quickly becoming one of the company’s top-performing brokers.
Over the past seven years, Gleicher has made a name for himself representing some of Manhattan’s biggest and most prestigious retail projects, working on assignments on behalf of prominent property owners such as SL Green Realty Corp, Columbia University, Rudin Management and Madison Capital, to name a few.
Levin Management has announced that Paul Ruane of Woodbridge, N.J., has joined the company as vice president of property management.
Ruane brings 35 years of diverse commercial property management experience to his new position, most recently as vice president of property management for WP Realty. Prior to joining WP Realty in 2006, Ruane worked with The Rubenstein Company, which was acquired by Brandywine Realty Trust. There, he successfully commissioned more than 2 million square feet of new corporate headquarters space, and retro-commissioned more than 1.5 million square feet of corporate headquarters and multi-tenanted office buildings.
Ruane is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and The Building Owners and Managers Association of Philadelphia, where he earned the Real Property Administrator designation. He chaired the Philadelphia Suburban Committee in 2004 and 2005, and served on the Board of Directors in Philadelphia between 1990 and 1993, and again from 2006 to 2009.
