New York City real estate tends to breach the limits of absurdity sometimes, with reports of 100-square foot apartments and million dollar parking spaces. One of the high points of this madness came last year, when a listing for a Lower East Side apartment showed a one-bedroom with a shower right in the kitchen.
Now, the Lower East Side apartment’s cousin has surfaced in Brooklyn, with a price tag of $1,900 per month. The one-bedroom, one-bathroom unit, which is located at 255 Powers St. in East Williamsburg, offers would-be residents instant access to the refrigerator and the stove immediately after stepping out of the shower.
According to real estate listing website Naked Apartments, the apartment is a sunny, newly-renovated unit with hardwood floors and the capacity for a queen-sized bed. It also provides easy access to L train stops at Grand Street and Graham Avenue.
While the set-up may seem odd, it is unlikely that the apartment would stay vacant. The now-infamous LES apartment, which was listed at $1,795 per month, only stayed on the market for a few months. Brooke Lucas, the brave soul who rented the apartment, told Bedford + Bowery that her living space has led her to develop tricks such as putting on her coat in the hallway so she wouldn’t knock things over.
Bryant Alvarado, a broker from MNS Real Estate, did not immediately return a request for comment.
