The company bought the building in 2005 and has been working to reposition, renovate and now lease the entire ground floor.
Six new commercial tenants have now opened in an example of Stonehenge’s vision to create welcoming, full-service rental opportunities in buildings enabling tenants to become part of a community where they can live, shop and socialize.
“10 Downing epitomizes Stonehenge’s commitment to creating a renaissance of neighborhoods and buildings in the city,” said Luciana Francese, director of retail leasing at Stonehenge Partners.
“We are excited about the new retail expansion of this West Village property. For communities to grow and thrive, people need to really live in them — sleep there, eat there, have friends there and shop there.
“By adding new retail space and working to attract services that everyone in the neighborhood needs and wants, we are creating a vibrant community.”
The real estate company which has 27 properties throughout Manhattan has transformed 10 Downing into one of the most sought after rental buildings in the West Village.
The 10,000 s/f of retail also now offers services for the community to access. They include Alex and Anthony’s, an upscale salon, Artsee Eyewear boutique, Emigrant Bank, Jack’s Stir Brew coffee shop, La Casa Blanca restaurant concept from John McDonald and Josh Pickard of Green Apple Restaurant Group, and La Villette, a French bistro complete with traditional Provencal dishes and a selection of wine. La Villette is being brought to the property by Angelo Peruzzi, managing partner of both Meatpacking District staples Bagatelle and Kiss and Fly.
