Knakal makes move to JLL

JLL has hired Robert Knakal as chairman of investment sales with JLL Capital Markets in New York.
Knakal will work with Mo Beler, managing director and head of investment sales and focus on expanding middle-market asset sales in the greater New York region while driving expansion across the firm’s institutional business.

Knakal was formerly chairman of New York Investment Sales for a leading global commercial real estate firm, and prior to that was chairman and founding partner of Massey Knakal Realty Services.

He has sold more than 1,864 properties with an aggregate value of $18 billion.

“Bob is an acknowledged leader in the New York City real estate industry and has an unparalleled track record,” said Peter Riguardi, president and Chairman of the New York Tri-State Region for JLL. “He is a powerful addition to our team and will be an asset to our clients as we continue to expand our platform.”

“I am excited to work alongside the JLL team and to further expand the firm’s investment sales platform in the New York City region,” Knakal said. “We have enormous opportunity to build on JLL’s momentum and to leverage the firm’s brand, culture and growing commitment to technology on behalf of clients.”

Knakal is a two-time recipient of the Real Estate Board of New York’s Robert T Lawrence Award for the Most Ingenious Deal of the Year. In 2010, he won REBNY’s Louis Smadbeck Broker Recognition Award for lifetime achievement in commercial brokerage.

Knakal received a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
