Italian chocolatier to open first standalone shop in Union Square

A gourmet Italian chocolatier is opening their first standalone US location at Union Square.

Venchi, who has been distributing their chocolates through Europe since 1871, just signed a 10-year lease for 861 Broadway between 17th and 18th Streets. Their Union Square location will be 3,000 s/f, split equally between ground floor and basement space. The gourmet chocolate shop is expected to open in November 2018.

NKF Executive Managing Director Ross Kaplan and Associate Derek Koelsch repped Venchi, and the landlord, Transworld Equities, handled the deal in-house.

“Union Square was a natural fit for Venchi,” commented Kaplan. “The premier location of Venchi is highly accessible surrounded by multiple subway lines, tons of foot traffic and a diverse mix of office, residential and dynamic retail, which makes this a prime spot for their first US standalone store.”

Kaplan added that they’ll continue working with Venchi to expand their US footprint.

While this is Venchi’s first standalone, the chocolatier has two concessions through Eataly’s locations in Flatiron and World Trade Center.
