Brodhead is latest Massey lieutenant to join B6 startup

Paul Massey has brought another one of his old lieutenants into his new investment sales startup.

B6 Real Estate Advisors, Massey’s new advisory firm, has hired Christoffer Brodhead as a partner and managing director of investment sales. He will oversee business opportunities in Hell’s Kitchen and Midtown West.

Brodhead joins the growing list of Massey affiliates who’ve made the jump to B6, including Neil Heilberg, Michael Wlody, DJ Johnston and Tom Donovan.

Robert Knakal, the other half of Massey’s original, eponymous firm who also departed Cushman & Wakefield this summer, will not join his old running mates. Last week he took a job with JLL.

A 20-year real estate veteran with more 100 building sales and 80 transactions to his name, Brodhead managed the capital markets team at Cushman & Wakefield under Massey directly before joining B6. Prior to that, he was director of sales at Massey Knakal Realty Services.

Heilberg, now the chief operating officer of B6, said Brodhead embodies the firm’s “’building by building, block by block’ ethos,” while also praising his experience and work ethic.

“From a business standpoint, his addition allows us to plant our flag in two neighborhoods, that are in significant transition phases, Midtown West and Hell’s Kitchen,” Heilberg said. “Chris’ work ethic and detailed knowledge of how we operate will set an ideal example for the up-and-coming professionals joining the firm.”

Brodhead has generated $500 million in sales during the past 20 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Brown University and a master’s in urban planning and development from the Institut Français d’Urbanisme in Paris. Before joining Massey Knakal, he worked for the Special Olympics in Washington, D.C.

He said he looks forward to the opportunity to join the upstart company in its early stages and working in a part of town that’s familiar to him.

“To be on the ground floor as a partner during this exciting period is one of the most significant milestones of my career,” said Mr. Brodhead. “As a native New Yorker who grew up on the West Side, I am deeply connected to the neighborhoods I will operate in. I am eager to leverage my deep knowledge of the Hell’s Kitchen and Midtown West neighborhoods and existing client relationships to elevate B6 as a major player in those areas.”
