RETAIL BRIEFS: Latest Essex Crossing vendors revealed; New grocery market to open in DUMBO

● Delancey Street Associates
New vendors for MarketLine

Delancey Street Associates (DSA) announced the latest round of vendors joining the Market Line at Essex Crossing on the Lower East Side.

The newest vendors include Lower East Side Vietnamese staple Pho Grand, up and coming star Moon Man’s first brick and mortar location, and Mediterranean marketplace Rustic Table Shuk from the founders behind of Rustic Table in Hell’s Kitchen.

Opening later this year, The Market Line will gather a mix of more than 100 locally sourced food, art, music and fashion retailers. It will complement the new home for the 77-year-old Essex Street Market, whose current vendors will move into an adjacent state-of-the-art space later this year.

Upon completion, the 150,000 s/f Market Line will not only be the largest market in New York City, it will be one of the largest in the world.

Nigel Sielegar, co-founder of Moon Man, says “Moon Man was founded with two goals; to introduce Indonesian desserts to the United States and to preserve the legacy of this street food that is disappearing from Indonesia. The Market Line provides Moon Man with permanent base that fosters cultural diffusion and tolerance.”

● The Hudson Companies
Gourmet grocer to open in Dumbo

The Hudson Companies announced a lease with Wholesome Farms Market at J Condo, located at 108 Jay Street in Dumbo.
Wholesome Farms Market will take the corner retail space fronting York Street and Jay Street. This will be the third location in Brooklyn for the gourmet market, which will take 3,000 s/f under a 15-year lease.

“I’ve been really impressed with Wholesome Farms Market’s Flatbush store, which I visited frequently when we were developing the Parkline,” said David Kramer, president of The Hudson Companies. “We’re proud to welcome them to Dumbo and I think they’ll do great at the base of J Condo, especially given the great location across from the York Street F Station.”
The lease was brokered by James Monteleone of All Points Real Estate.

J Condo, completed in 2007, is a 33 story mixed-use development that sits in the heart of Dumbo.

Wholesome Farms Market will join an array of retail tenants in the building, including City Chemist, York Street Cellars and Chase Bank.

● Cushman & Wakefield
FitHouse rollout continues

Cushman & Wakefield arranged a long-term lease for fitness brand, FitHouse, at 93 Worth Street in the Tribeca.
Formerly a Crossfit ICE location, the retail space offers 4,500 s/f on the ground and lower levels.

This is the third location Cushman & Wakefield has brokered for FitHouse this year, joining 712 Broadway, which opened earlier this year, and 20 West 14th Street, currently under construction and slated to open this fall.

Brandon Singer and Michael Cody represented the FitHouse. The landlord of the property is Izaki Group Investments.

“We completed this deal only two months after the closing of FitHouse’s incredible location in Union Square,” said Singer. “We are looking forward to working with FitHouse the brand as they continue their Manhattan rollout through 2018.”

● RKF
RKF fills HUBB space

RKF arranged a collection of leases for retail space at HUBB NYC’s 136 Church Street in Tribeca.

The transactions totaled 4,119 s/f and were with Verizon Wireless, Jupioca, Sufu Nail Salon and Spa, and Los Tacos No. 1.
Vice Chairman Ariel Schuster, Vice President Ross Berkowitz and Managing Director Andrew Stern represented HUBB NYC.
Senior Director Raj Whadwa and Associate Marc Windheim represented Verizon Wireless.

Schuster, Berkowitz and Stern also represented Jupioca and Sufu Nail Salon and Spa in these two transactions, while RKF Managing Director Neal Ohm and Eddie Mamiye (formerly of RKF) represented Los Tacos No. 1.

When HUBB NYC purchased the retail condominium, the space was configured for one tenant — Drill Fitness. RKF was hired to reposition and re-tenant the asset.
