MICHAEL ROGERS

The Real Estate Lenders Association (RELA) announced incoming national chairman Michael Rogers, Director for MUFG Union Bank, with over 17 years of experience in real estate banking.

Rogers has been an active New York City Chapter officer with the Real Estate Lenders Association since 2009, joining the National Board of Directors as a Board Member in 2015.

He has played an important role as a liaison for the New York City chapter and has been instrumental in implementing annual lenders sentiment surveys with RELA national economist Dr. Sam Chandan.

Before joining MUFG Union Bank, Rogers held similar roles at Capital One and PB Capital and has also served as a Real Estate Securitization Analysts at CIBC World Markets.

Belkin Burden Wenig & Goldman announced that Robert S. Marshall, Jr., Esq. has joined as Partner.

Marshall focuses on construction and leasing, and he represents tenants, landlords, owners, developers, project managers, construction managers, contractors, suppliers, engineers, architects, consultants and brokers.

He has represented clients in the construction and leasing of millions of square-feet of commercial, residential and mixed-use property across the country.

Prior to joining Belkin Burden Wenig & Goldman, Marshall was Counsel at Herrick Feinstein LLP and an Associate at Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP.

He served in the United States Army Infantry and Military Police, where he was stationed abroad in Europe and Central America. He is a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and The American Legion.

Marshall earned a B.S. and an M.A. from St. John’s University and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law.

Millbrook Realty Capital announced that Uanderson Benedetti has joined the firm as Managing Director.
Benedetti is focused on originating short-term bridge loans on multifamily properties, mixed-use buildings, condominiums and hotels across the country.

Prior to joining the, Benedetti served as Head of Originations for Fort Amsterdam Capital where he originated and structured bridge loans. Before that, he helped develop more than one million square feet of commercial real estate space in New York City as a senior project executive with MUEngineering and project manager with RCDolner.

Benedetti earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Manhattan College in 2005.

Bellwether Enterprise Real Estate Capital LLC announced that Ilya Weinstein has been appointed Vice President of the New York office.

Weinstein will join the Affordable Group, bringing with him almost seven years of experience in the mortgage lending industry.

In his former role, Weinstein served as an Associate at Wells Fargo Multifamily Capital in New York. he also served as an Associate at Red Stone Tax-Exempt Funding and worked at Centerline Capital Group on the asset management and affordable housing lending teams.

Weinstein is a member of the Urban Land Institute Young Leaders Group and the Colgate University Real Estate Leadership Council. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Russian Studies from Colgate University.

Emilie B. Cooper has joined Haynes and Boone, LLP as a partner in the firm’s New York Office.

Cooper’s focus is on representing real estate and hotel investors, developers, lenders, owners, managers, and operators through all stages of complex litigation.

Her knowledge of the real estate and hotel industries, particularly in New York, has helped her both pursue and defend high-stakes litigations and arbitrations on behalf of her clients, including breach of contract, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, commercial tort, and foreclosure claims.

She also frequently provides advice concerning the litigation implications of agreements and transactions within the real estate and hotel industries.

Cooper previously was a partner at Kasowitz Benson Torres LLP in New York.

Donna Laterza, CMP, has joined NAIOP New Jersey as Director of Membership & Special Events. She replaces Bonnie Sovinee, who retired after more than 10 years with the association.

Laterza formerly served as Manager of the Specialty Meeting Department for the International Council of Shopping Centers, where she was responsible for day-to-day operations, marketing and logistics for conferences and programs.

Earlier in her career, she held similar positions with the United Fresh Fruit & Vegetables Association and the National Retail Federation. She earned a Certified Meeting Professional designation from the Events Industry Council.

The New York City office of Cresa has welcomed veteran broker David P. Danick as Senior Vice President.
Danick has worked in tenant representation, commercial property leasing, and strategic opportunity development for the past 30 years.

His roster of clients has included The New York County Dental Association, Rock Shrimp Productions, The National Book Foundation of America, The Moth, Becca Cosmetics (Estee Lauder), Dash Financial, Enclos, and The National Association of Broadcast Engineers & Technicians, among others.

Danick was previously Senior Managing Director at Coldwell Banker Commercial Advisors and, before that, Senior Director of Leasing at Winoker Realty. He attended the University of Maryland.

L&L Holding Company has appointed Patrick Connell as Managing Director & Head of Capital Raising.

Connell will raise capital and develop new strategic partnerships with institutional investors and manage existing strategic partnerships with groups such as J.P. Morgan Asset Management, which committed $500 million to a new joint venture with L&L last year.

Prior to L&L, Connell worked as a Principal for Riverstone Holdings LLC. Before that, he was an associate with Partners Group, where he was responsible for fundraising and investment origination.

Connell earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Boston College and received a Master of Business Administration from The University of Virginia Darden School of Business.

Convene has hired Brad Kay as the company’s first Chief Brand Officer.

Kay brings over two decades of start-up and enterprise marketing experience to Convene’s executive team.

Previously, he was president and partner of SS+K, an advertising agency partially owned by M&C Saatchi, for nearly 10 years, playing a leading role in building the agency and developing campaigns across multiple industries, including rolling out Kraft Mio, the most successful product launch in the food and beverage giant’s history; bringing the Chevy Volt – General Motors’ first electric car – to market; and launching Jet.com, among many others.

Brad came to SS+K after serving as Executive Vice President and Executive Director of FCB’s digital practice and a member of the agency’s leadership.

Jadian Capital has added Andrew Fredman and James Walker to the ranks of the firm.

Andrew Fredman previously served as managing partner at IngleSea Capital.

Before that, he was managing partner and chief investment officer at Fir Tree Partners and served as Managing Director at Everest Capital where he concentrated on capital structure arbitrage, and opportunistic debt and equity investments.

Fredman received a M.B.A. from Columbia University and a B.A. in Economics from Tulane University.

James Walker was a co-founder and managing partner at Black Diamond Capital Management, L.L.C. Before this, he worked at Kidder, Peabody Group. He has been an Independent Director at Starwood Real Estate Income Trust, Inc. since 2017.

Jadian is an investment firm focused on real estate-related opportunities in assets and companies. It was founded in 2017 by Jarret Cohen, the former Head of Private Real Estate at Fir Tree Partners.

Cheri Krusen brings 17 years of experience in banking, lending and management to the MLO team.

Carrier Johnson + CULTURE has announced the appointment of architect Randall Morton, AIA, to lead its recently opened New York City office.

As part of the firm’s expansion, Morton — an internationally lauded expert on waterfront and transit-oriented development, urban planning and design, as well as urban revitalization — has been named Principal of the firm’s Urban Design Studio.

Morton has authored large-scale development plans for the Port of San Diego, the revival of downtown Minneapolis, New York’s World Trade Center and Hudson Yards, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital as well as sports and entertainment districts in Oakland, Atlanta, Newark, Miami, and St. Petersburg, Florida.

Morton is a registered architect in New York, New Jersey and Florida, a member of both the Urban Land Institute and the American Institute of Architects, and certified by NCARB.

His work has been published extensively, and he has served as a visiting critic at Yale University’s School of Architecture, Temple University, the City College of New York, Pratt Institute and at Columbia University, where Morton earned his Master of Science in architecture and urban design in 1985.

Pickard Chilton announced that Nancy B. Clayton, AIA, LEED GA, a Senior Associate at the firm, has joined the board of directors of the Connecticut Architecture Foundation (CAF).

CAF raises public awareness for architecture and the built environment though the funding of people and programs in education, scholarship, mentorship or research.

Clayton, who joined Pickard Chilton in 2002, has 30 years of design experience on a broad range of corporate, academic, and cultural projects.

She has served as Design Director for several significant corporate high rise and campus projects.
One of Ms. Clayton’s first endeavors as a board member was to serve as a juror for the 2018 Connecticut Architecture Foundation Scholarship Review.

Construction is underway on two of Ms. Clayton’s most recent projects. She is Pickard Chilton’s design director for the City of New Haven’s new Barack H. Obama Magnet University School on the campus of Southern Connecticut State University.
Clayton is also directing the 2&U office tower in downtown Seattle, Washington.

Clayton graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture. She also received a Master of Architecture from Princeton.
